Buhari Cannot Resign Over Insecurity – FG

The Federal Government has vowed that President Muhammadu Buhari will not resign because of the security situation in the country.

Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture, said this during a press conference in Abuja on Thursday.

He said the security challenges were being tackled, adding that the mission to clear Nigeria of criminals will be successful.

“As I said earlier, the country is facing security challenges, and the challenges are being tackled headlong,” the Minister added.

He, however, added that the call in some quarters for the President to resign was unreasonable.

Larry Tesler, Inventor Of Cut, Copy, Paste Dies At 74

Lawrence Gordon Tesler, an American computer scientist whose accomplishments include inventing the cut, copy, and paste command has died at the age of 74.

He was a graduate of Stanford University who specializes in human-computer interaction.

Tesler who was known for his excellent skills while working with Amazon, Apple, and Yahoo died on Monday, February 17.

He was a former researcher at Xerox Palo Alto Research Center where he spent part of his career.

The Federal government has issued a strong warning to Nigerians against fake news and reiterated its resolve to sanitize the nations social media space.

An anti-malarial drug widely used in Africa in the 1980s and 1990s has been found to be effective on coronavirus patients, according to China’s Ministry of Science and Technology.

Mexico Bans Import Of Electronic Cigarettes

Mexico, on Thursday, said it would ban the importation of electronic cigarettes by presidential decree.

The Mexican Health Ministry disclosed this in a statement in Mexico.

Britain Releases New 20 Pound Banknotes

 

A new British banknote featuring a self-portrait by the 19th-century painter J.M.W. Turner entered circulation on Thursday.

The 20-pound note is the third to be made of durable polymer material rather than paper, following the launch of new five pound and 10 pound notes in 2016 and 2017.

The Supreme Council of Sharia in Nigeria said social vices are the main causes of insecurity in Nigeria.
