ASUU Sues FUOYE Over Highhandedness, Abuse Of Powers

The Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State, Dr. Akinyemi Omonijo, has dragged the management of the university before the National Industrial Court in Akure, Ondo State over what he called illegal suspension slammed on him by the university authority.

The Nigeria Police on Monday said GUO, Ezenwata and Young Shall Grow luxury buses were not hijacked by bandits on the Lokoja-Okene road.

Police Confirm Murder Of Civil Service Director

Delta Police Command has confirmed the killing of a Director in the Delta State Ministry of Works, Ugo Onochie, by gunmen.

According to the Chicago Sun Times, aspiring rapper, Qaw’mane Wilson, known by his stage name “Young QC”, hired a hitman to murder his mother so he could inherit her savings. He was sentenced to 99 years in prison. The hitman, Eugene Spencer, also received a 100-year sentence.

A Federal High Court sitting in Makurdi, on Monday declared the Federal Government’s plan to establish RUGA Settlement and cattle colonies in Benue State as unwarranted, unlawful and unconstitutional.

The court presided over by Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon, while delivering judgement, said any move by the Federal Government to compulsorily acquire land for RUGA Settlement or cattle colony in Benue State without the approval of the Benue State government was null and void.

Tanzania Mourns As 40 Killed In Church Stampede, Floods

 

Dar es Salaam — Tanzania president John Magufuli mourned death of at least 40 people including 20 who died late Saturday following a stampede at an evangelical Christian church service in Moshi.

The president said 20 others were killed in ongoing rains in Lindi, according to a statement issued on Sunday February 2, 2020.

The Moshi tragedy happened when a crowd of worshippers was attending a prayer ceremony on Saturday led by the popular preacher, Boniface Mwamposa, who heads the Arise and Shine Ministry Tanzania.
