Lalong Orders Arrest Of Fulani, Community Leaders

Plateau governor and chairman, Northern Governors Forum, Simon Lalong, has directed the state Police Commmissioner, Isaac Akinmoyede, to arrest and detain community leaders in local councils where killings occured with a view to identifying the perpetrators of the  crime.

He said the community leaders should not be released until they produce the  masterminds of the recent killings in Mangu and Bokkos local government areas of the state.

Imo PDP To Declare Defectors’ Seats Vacant

The leadership of the Imo State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party has said the seat of the defectors would be declared vacant.

This is as just the party said that it would invoke the extant laws to ensure that the anomaly is corrected.

Victorious Imo Assembly Woman Onwudiwe To Defect To APC

The winner of the Saturday rerun election for Njaba State constituency at the Imo State House of Assembly, Uju Onwudiwe, has confirmed that she would be defecting from her party, the Action Alliance (AA), to the All Progressive Congress (APC) as soon as she is sworn-in.

Onwudiwe, who disclosed this to Daily Sun in Owerri, said that this has been the initial plan of the party members who she said were loyal to the governorship candidate of their party, Uche Nwosu.

Borno Gov Swears In 26 Advisers

Borno State governor, Babagana Zulum has sworn in 26 special advisers including two non-natives from the southwest and southeast parts of the country.

Zulum at a brief ceremony at the Maiduguri Government House on Wednesday said their appointments were based on their contributions to the state in their various endeavours and success of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last elections.

Google has launched its first Google Developers Space in Lagos, Nigeria, yesterday. Previously referred to as the Google Launchpad Space, the Google Developers Space is a hub for African developers, entrepreneurs and startups.

A coalition of extractive sector non-governmental organisations have called for adoption of legal reforms which foster transparency as a long lasting panacea to rampant violence in the artisanal and small scale mining.

Leprosy, an antiquated disease so old that people only relate to it through the Bible, affected 109 people in Kenya in 2018 due to ignorance in the public and healthcare workers.

According to annual reports from the National Tuberculosis Leprosy and Lung Disease Programme, the coastal area is the most affected. Kilifi recorded the highest cases (35) with Kwale and Mombasa recording six each.

A canine unit from the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) was Tuesday spotted sweeping through Zanu PF headquarters in an unexpected security operation that took both senior party officials and employees by surprise.

Sources within the party said the army personnel swept through the entire 14 storey building.

Rwanda: Abusive Detention Of Street Children

Rwandan authorities are seeking to formalize their abusive arrests and detention of some of the country’s most vulnerable children under the pretense of rehabilitating them, Human Rights Watch said in a report released today.
