How Police Arrested Cultists Initiating Minors In Bayelsa

The Bayelsa State Police Command says it has arrested four suspected cultists, who allegedly initiated some minors into banned secret confraternity.

Spokesman for the command, SP Asinim Butswat, told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that operatives of its anti-cult unit effected the arrest of the suspects on Friday.

He said the arrest followed credible information from residents of Okutukutu, a suburb in Yenagoa where the initiation took place.

Butswat said that at least three minors aged between 13 and 17, had so far been identified as new initiates.

Kaduna Explosion: DPR Recovers More Bodies Of 3 Victims

The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) on Friday said a combined team of DPR, KEPA and other agencies have recovered mutilated bodies of three more victims of the Jan. 4 Kaduna gas explosion.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the recovery of the three bodies brings to eight the number of victims killed by the gas explosion.

The North West Zonal Controller, DPR, Isa Tafida made the disclosure during a condolence visit to the family of the late Chairman of Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission, Prof. Simon Mallam.

Breaking: Iran Finally Admits Shooting Down Ukrainian Plane

Iran has finally admitted that its military “unintentionally” shot down a Ukrainian jetliner, killing all 176 onboard.

This was contained in a statement on Saturday morning where it also blamed “human error” for the incident, adding that the military mistook Flight 752 for a “hostile target.”

 

Recall that jetliner, a Boeing 737 operated by Ukrainian International Airlines, went down on the outskirts of Tehran during takeoff just hours after Iran launched a barrage of missiles at US forces in Iraq.

SUG Not A Vehicle For Intimidation – Rector Warns SUG

The Rector of The Polytechnic Ibadan, Professor Kazeem Adebiyi, on Friday declared that students’ union is not a vehicle to intimidate fellow students and members of the public.

Adebiyi made this declaration while speaking during the swearing in ceremony of the Students’ Union executives and Students’ Representative Council held at the North Campus Assembly Hall of the institution.

EFCC Speaks On ‘Atiku’s Arraignment’

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has categorically denied it will arraign Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar over alleged N₦75.3 billion fraud.

MEND Meets Jonathan, Sends Message To Buhari

Following the December 24, 2019 attack on the Otuoke residence of ex President Goodluck Jonathan by gunmen, the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), paid a solidarity visit to him at his residence in Yenagoa in Bayelsa on Friday.

Amotekum: Disband Nigeria’s Security Apparatus Now

Ntufam Mba Ekpezu Ukweni, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has said that the Nigeria’s security apparatus should be disbanded because they have failed Nigerians, which made them to resort to self-defence.

NAF Neutralises ISWAP Fighters, Headquarters In Borno

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has destroyed portions of an Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP)’s tactical headquarters at Kollaram on the fringes of the Lake Chad in Borno.

The NAF said it also neutralised some ISWAP fighters in the same area.

Cross River State Governor, Prof Ben Ayade, on Friday, inaugurated the state public service negotiating team for the implementation of the new minimum wage.
