Bayelsa: Gov. Dickson Orders Payment Of New Minimum Wage

Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has approved the payment of the ₦30,000 new National Minimum Wage to workers in the state with effect from January 2020.

Governor Dickson gave the approval on Friday during a meeting with the leadership of organised labour at the Government House, Yenagoa.

The governor directed the State’s financial team to follow through the template set by the National Wages and Income Commission in implementing the new salary level.

Anambra: One Collapse As Fire Guts Another Onitsha Market

Properties worth millions were on Saturday destroyed in a fire incident at the old Automobiles spare parts Market Awada, Anambra state.

According to the Nation, one person reportedly collapsed during the incident, which occurred around 01:30: am.

The Police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed who confirmed the incident in a statement said the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.

Armed Men Attack, Matchet Policemen On Duty

Suspected armed men have attacked, matcheted and injured some Policemen and carted away their arms in Asaba, the Capital of Delta State, Nigeria.

The Policemen were said to be on “Routine stop and search duty” when the incident occurred on Friday, January 10, THISDAY can report.

The armed men who had laid an ambush in the area inflicted serious injuries on the Policemen before carting away their rifles.

Three suspects have been arrested over alleged human trafficking of one Ms Ajayi Omolola in Kwara State.

Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau, says the 19 Northern states have gone far in their efforts to introduce community policing in the region.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebony State has reacted to claim by Gov. Dave Umahi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that he also belonged to APC.

How Police Arrested Cultists Initiating Minors In Bayelsa

The Bayelsa State Police Command says it has arrested four suspected cultists, who allegedly initiated some minors into banned secret confraternity.

Spokesman for the command, SP Asinim Butswat, told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that operatives of its anti-cult unit effected the arrest of the suspects on Friday.

He said the arrest followed credible information from residents of Okutukutu, a suburb in Yenagoa where the initiation took place.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Oyo State Command, has cautioned driving school operators in the state over churning out unqualified drivers.

Oyo State FRSC Sector Commander, Mrs Uche Winifred, gave the warning on Friday in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
