Ife Bronze Head: UK Offers To Help Retrieve Antique

The United Kingdom has offered to assist Nigeria in retrieving the Ife Bronze Head, an antique stolen at National Museum, Jos in 1987 and found with a Belgian collector in London, about thirty years after.

The British Minister for Arts, Heritage and Tourism, Helen Whately, made the pledge on Thursday in London, when the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed paid her an official visit.

Speaking after a closed-door meeting with his counterpart, Mohammed said they resolved to explore an amicable resolution to the matter to avoid possible collateral damage among Nigeria, UK and Belgium.

NCC Activates Toll-Free Emergency Number In 18 States

The Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Danbatta, says the Commission has activated its 112 toll-free Emergency Telephone Number at Emergency Communication Centres (ECCs).

The 112 toll-free line, established late 2019, is currently functional in 18 states.

Danbatta, who spoke at the Forum of Spokesperson of Security and Response Agencies (FOSSRA) Meeting, on Thursday, in Abuja, listed the states as Katsina, Ogun, Kano, Plateau, Anambra, Enugu, Kaduna, Benue, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Oyo, Edo, Ondo, Ekiti, Kwara, Adamawa, Imo and Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Nothing Wrong In Asking President To Resign – El-Rufai

A call made by Nasir El-rufai, while pushing for the resignation of former President, Goodluck Jonathan in 2012 has resurfaced on social media.

El-Rufai, now the Kaduna State Governor, had on July 23, 2012, supported the call for Jonathan’s resignation, suggesting that the then President was useless to the people of Nigeria.

El-Rufai Increases Pensioners’ Benefit From ₦3K To ₦30K

Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has promised to increase pensioners’ benefit from ₦3, 000 to ₦30, 000 monthly.
El-Rufai made the increment while stating that pensioners take home was unacceptable and very poor.

In a statement signed by his spokesman, Muyiwa Adekeye, El-Rufai promised that the proposed increase will be tabled before the State Executive Council meeting.
