US House Speaker, Pelosi Attacks Facebook

United States House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi called Facebook a “shameful” company on Thursday.

The attack came amid escalating tensions between Democratic leadership and the company.

CNN reports that the Speaker expressed grievance at her weekly press conference on Capitol Hill.

Customs Command Surpasses Revenue Target

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Area II Command, Onne Port, Rivers State has announced that it generated a total revenue of ₦107.336 million from duty paid on imported goods in 2019. This, it stated in a statement, surpasses its annual target of ₦95.711 million for last year by ₦11.642 million.

Foreign Investors Bought Less Bonds In 2019, Says DMO

Foreign investors cut their participation in Nigerian government bond auctions last year, buying just 4.39 per cent of all bonds issued compared with the previous year when they bought 10.99 per cent, a debt office presentation showed.

The debt office said local fund managers bought most of the bonds in 2019, accounting for more than a third of total demand.

In 2017, foreigners bought 11.7 per cent of Nigerian government bonds, Reuters quoted the debt office to have said in a presentation to traders.

The Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday, dismissed a plea by a defendant in a suit filed by EFCC against Murtala Nyako, former Adamawa Governor, and others to stop the prosecution from closing its case.

Mild drama ensued on Thursday at the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, UNIMEDTH, Akure, Ondo State, when some enrollees of National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS, stormed the hospital over poor services.

Niger Delta: EFCC, DSS Move Against Oil Theft

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the Department of State Services (DSS), Thursday, pledged to fight against Niger Delta oil thieves and other maritime related economic crimes.

The United Kingdom has launched a fresh bid to confiscate “proceeds of loot” in the £117 million worth of properties linked to James Ibori, former governor of Delta state.

How NSCDC Rescued Four Girls From Being Trafficked To Mali

The Lagos State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has rescued four girls that were meant to be trafficked to Mali.
