IPMAN Crisis: How Danger Was Averted – Sam Onyishi

Chairman/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Peace Mass Transit (PMT) Ltd, Dr. Samuel Onyishi has declared that the quick resolution of the crisis between feuding factions of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) by the Enugu State Governor, His Excellency, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, averted a major danger.

THISDAY reports that residents were on Tuesday faced with great difficulties as petrol stations shut their doors against motorists over the crisis.

This was following the resurgence of the leadership crisis within the state IPMAN Executives.

Akeredolu: Agreements S’West Govs Reached With Osinbajo

The Ondo State Governor and Chairman of the Southwest Governors, Rotimi Akeredolu, has disclosed what was agreed upon during the meeting with the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo with regards to Amotekun.

Akeredolu said governors of the region and Osinbajo agreed on a legal framework to be established to backup the region’s security outfit.

Recall that the Southwest governors had met with Osinbajo yesterday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Sex Is Not For Gay, Church Of England Amends Marriage Laws

The Church of England, on Thursday announced changes in marriage law.

In a statement issued by the House of Bishops, led by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby, the bishops declared that Christians in gay or straight civil partnerships should be sexually abstinent.

According to him, sex is for straight married couples only, adding that a lifelong union between a man and a woman, contracted with the making of vows remains the proper context for sexual activity.

The leaders of the Church, however, warned that churchgoers with civil partnerships should be treated ‘sensitively and pastorally’.

Oshiomhole’s Removal: Court Makes Decision

A Federal Capital Territory, FCT High Court, in Jabi, on Thursday declined the Ex-Parte Application filed by the National Vice Chairman, North East of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, Comrade Mustapha Salihu, a factional Chairman of the APC in Edo state, Anselm Ojezua and others, seeking to remove the National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole from office.

Lukman, had told Oshiomhole to convene a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the party or resign without further ado.

Lukman’s call came on the heels of the multiple internal crisis rocking the party in states across the country.

Archbishop Of Canterbury Breaks Silence On B’Haram Killing

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Most Revd Justin Portal Welby has reacted to the killing of Lawan Andimi, chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Michika Local Government Area of Adamawa State by Boko Haram insurgents.

Andimi was abducted by Boko Haram when they attacked Michika on January 3.

Initially, he was declared missing but later appeared in a video released by Boko Haram, wherein he pleaded with authorities to secure his release.

FG, South-West Governors Agree To Formalise Amotekun

The Federal Government and Governors of states in the South-west have reached the agreement to draw up a legal framework for the Western Security Network code-named: Amotekun.

Rotimi Akeredolu, governor of Ondo state, disclosed this to state house correspondents at the end of a meeting Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo had with the six governors from the region on Thursday.

S’East Govs Not Doing Enough For Igbos – Pete Edochie

Veteran Nollywood actor, Chief Pete Edochie, has asked South East Governors to fashion out modalities to rescue the culture and tradition of Igbo through motion pictures.

Recapitalisation: NIA Urges Operators On Use Of Extension

The Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) has urged insurers to take advantage of the recapitalisation extension recently announced by the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) to prepare well for the exercise.
