The investigative panel that was set up by the management of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife, Osun State, to look into allegations of sexual harassment against Mr Olabisi Olaleye, a lecturer in the Department of International Relations, has submitted its reports to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede.

Kaduna Approves Four Industrial Areas For Gas Plants

The Kaduna State Environmental Protection Authority (KEPA) has provided four industrial sites for the sale of gas in order to ensure safety of lives and properties in the state.

The General Manger of the agency, Lawal Jibrin, disclosed this in an interview on Tuesday in Kaduna.

He said Governor Nasir el-Rufai had approved the four locations for gas plant operators and retailers to carry out their businesses.

More than 100 gas retail outlets were recently closed down by the state government following a gas explosion in the Sabon Tasha area of the metropolis in January 4, 2020.

CBN Pumps $9.98bn Into Forex Market In Q4

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) sold a total of $9.98 billion to authorised foreign exchange dealers in the fourth quarter of 2019.
The data, extracted from the central bank’s economic report for the fourth quarter of 2019, obtained on its website yesterday, showed that the amount represented a decline by 0.4 per cent compared with the $10.020 billion recorded in the third quarter of 2019.

The development, relative to the preceding quarter, was attributed mainly, to the decline in forex sales to the Bureau De Change (BDCS), interbank, swaps transactions and wholesale forwards in the review quarter.

When All Hope Is Lost In The Supreme Court

Two weeks ago on January 14, the Supreme Court nullified the governorship election of Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and declared candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hope Uzodinma, governor of Imo.

Highly controversial, the judgment catapulted Mr. Uzodinma, who during the March 9, 2019 election had pulled 96,458 votes to settle at fourth place. The federal government has said it will not be distracted by the “baseless” rating of the Transparency International (TI) which ranked Nigeria low in its latest international Corruption Perception index.

The Senate on Tuesday disclosed that it will not hesitate to probe the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, over allegations that he was convicted of felony in a California court in the United States, if a petition to that effect is sent to the upper legislative chamber.

A medical doctor, who is currently serving as a house officer at the Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo, has tested positive to Lassa fever.
