IPPIS: ASUU Mobilises Members For Strike

Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has threatened to embark on strike if the Accountant General of the Federation stops salaries of lecturers this January.

The association claimed the FG had noted that it would stop the salaries of the lecturers for failing to enrol for the Integrated Personnel and Payroll System (IPPIS).

ASUU said that a circular from the office of the Accountant General of the Federation ( AGF) was sent to all public universities last week Thursday with information to with-hold January salary of lecturers who refused to enrol in the IPPIS platform.

Revenue Generation: Nigerian Govt Shifts From Oil

The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), has said as part of plans to boost Nigeria’s revenue generation, the federal government has commenced further development of mining and solid minerals sector.

Mr Elias Mbam, Chairman of the commission, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, said this would ensure less dependence on oil.

Border Closure: Smugglers Devise New Tactics

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) says smugglers have devised new means of carrying out their illegal activities inspite of the partial closure of borders.

Mr Mohammed Garba, the Coordinator of the Joint Border Drill Operations, North Central Zone, stated this on Tuesday while addressing officers at a sensitisation programme in border communities in the zone.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the zone covers Kwara, Niger, Kogi and Benue.

Court Sentences Mother, Son To Jail For $82.5k Fraud

Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court, Lagos, convicted and sentenced a woman, Alaba Kareem Adeyemi and her son, Damilola Ahmed Adeyemi, to three years imprisonment over fraud amounting $82,570.00.

The court convicted and sentenced the duo to the jail terms after they pleaded guilty to a four-count charge of conspiracy, internet fraud, obtaining under false pretence and impersonation levelled against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has asked the state’s Ministry of Health and other relevant authorities to be on red alert in order to prevent any recurrence of Lassa Fever in the state.

Local Government Chairmen who were sacked by Governor Seyi Makinde last year, on Tuesday declared that the court injunction obtained by the Oyo State government cannot stop them from resuming their various offices.

DAILY POST recalls that an Oyo State High Court, on Tuesday, restrained the sacked chairmen from forceful take over of secretariats in the state. Also restrained were the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami as well as the Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Adamu.

NLNG Signs 10-Year Gas Supply Deal With Eni

The Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) and Eni have signed a LNG Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) for the supply of 1.5million tonnes of LNG per year  some of the remarketed volumes from NLNG’s Trains 1, 2 and 3.
