Insecurity: Buhari Meets Security Chiefs In Aso Rock

President Muhammadu Buhari is currently meeting with Security Chiefs at the Presidential Villa.

The meeting is coming few hours after Senate Minority Leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe called for the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Abaribe, while contributing to a debate on the deteriorating security situation in the country on the floor of the Senate yesterday, claimed that Buhari government had failed to proffer solutions to the high rate of insecurity across Nigeria.

Coronavirus: India Reports First Case

The Indian government on Thursday confirmed that a patient in Kerala State, Southern India had tested positive for novel coronavirus, the first case of the virus which originated in China and has so far killed 170.

“The patient was a student of Wuhan University in China.

“The patient is stable and in isolation at a hospital,’’ the government disclosed.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) senior Indian government official said bringing Indian nationals from Wuhan, the epicentre of the virus was not the best option due to the risk of infection but increased pressure from the citizens.

A cross-section of Nigerians have reacted to calls by the Senate Minority Leader, Eyinnaya Abaribe demanding the President’s resignation over the insecurity challenges facing the country.

Abaribe, while contributing to a debate on the floor of the Senate yesterday, said Buhari should resign because his government had failed to proffer solutions to the high rate of insecurity across Nigeria.

Court Grants Adoke ₦50 Million Bail

The Federal High Court, Abuja on Monday granted bail to former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Muhammed Bello Adoke.

Justice Abubakar Kultigi granted bail to Adoke in the sum of N50million and one surety.

Justice Kultigi admitted Adoke to bail in his ruling on the bail application filed by the defendant who is standing trial before the court on 42 count charge bordering on alleged Malabu Oil deal.

Asking Service Chiefs To Resign Or Be Sacked Is Sacrilege

As reactions continue to trail the call for the sack of Service Chiefs by members of the National Assembly, the National Democratic Front, NDF, on Thursday described the development as sacrilegious and unpatriotic.

The House of Representatives had during plenary on Wednesday, asked President Buhari to sack service chiefs for overstaying their tenure, following a motion of urgent public importance moved by the Chief Whip of the House, Hon, Mohammed Tahir Mongunu and 14 others.

The call was hinged on the need to restructure, review and reorganize the current security architecture of the nation.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has issued certificates of return to the winners of the January 25, 2020 rerun election held in Arochukwu and Abia south constituencies of Abia State.

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has approved the appointment of Ben Agande as General Manager, Benue Printing and Publishing Corporation, BPPC, publishers of The Voice Newspaper.
