Boko Haram Bombs Gwoza, Borno Mosque

Twin suicide bombers linked to the Boko Haram sect attacked a mosque in Gwoza, Borno state, on Sunday, killing a 12-year-old child and leaving many people injured.

A security source, who disclosed this to TheCable, said the suicide bombers forced their way into the mosque while prayer was ongoing.

The source said before some persons in the neighbourhood raised the alarm, the attackers had already gained entry into the mosque.

The Federal Government has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to reject a request by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, to restore his revoked bail.

On Friday we obtained the counter-affidavit filed before the court by the Federal Government to oppose an application filed in April last year by Kanu seeking the restoration of his bail.

‘Umahi Is APC Mole’ –Edo PDP Condemns Obaseki’s Endorsement

The Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, Chief Dan Orbih, has described Ebonyi Governor, David Umahi, as a mole working for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He called Umahi and some others “saboteurs within”, who were doing all in their powers to ensure that the PDP doesn’t win the Edo 2020 governorship election.

The Chairman said this in a letter to the National Chairman of the party, Uche Secondus.

The letter, dated January 25, 2020, condemned Umahi’s endorsement of the Governor of Edo State and leader of APC, Godwin Obaseki.

The Enugu State Government has dispelled the rumour making the rounds that one of the nurses that treated the patient who died of Lassa fever has also died.

Reacting to the rumor, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Ifeanyi Agujiobi, said that the information was false, unfounded and misleading.

Coronavirus: WHO Sends Message To Countries

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has advised Member States to be ready for timely detection and management of any outbreak, especially coronavirus as the death toll in China hit 56.

China had over the weekend confirmed 1,975 cases of patients infected with the new coronavirus while the death toll from the virus has risen to 56.

Medical Doctor Quarantined Over Suspicions Of Lassa Fever

The Jigawa State Ministry of Health says it has quarantined one medical personnel at Jahun Local Government Area, Dr. Anthony Etim on suspicions of Lassa fever.

The Acting Permanent Secretary of the ministry Salisu Mu’azu, confirmed this to newsmen.

He said the victim is a staff of Medecins Sans Frontieres, also known as Doctors without borders.

The suspected case is now being treated at the isolated Infectious Disease Control unit in Jahun hospital.

Mrs Uche Chukwurah, the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Oyo State, has told Nigerians to follow personnel who demand bribe to the office.

She warned officers and men of the corps to refrain from taking bribes from motorists or risk being sacked.

The Nigerian Army says its troops of Operation Lafiya Dole (OPLD), have announced the arrest of Zainab Usman, wife of a Boko Haram/ISWAP leader.

The Nigerian Army Operations Media Coordinator, Col. Aminu Iliyasu, in a statement on Sunday, made the announcement in an update on the war against Boko Haram and Islamic State for West Africa (ISWAP) terrorists.
