Amotekun: Doyin Okupe Sends Message To Osinbajo

Doyin Okupe, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has written an open letter to the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, over the controversial issues arising from the creation of Operation Amotekun.

In his letter entitled, ‘Letter to the Vice President: Your Excellency, Amotekun and Related Matters,’ the former presidential aide noted that State Police was the best for the country.

Recall that Osinbajo met with Southwest leaders on Thursday to find solutions to the disagreement between the Federal Government and the Southwest leaders over the new security outfit.

Anxiety In Okorocha’s Camp as Uzodinma Appoints Loyalists

There is an unusual calmness in Rochas Okorocha’s camp in Imo State given the first skeletal appointments of the new governor of the State, Senator Hope Uzodinma which did not favour his (Okorocha’s) boys.

The former governor who had earlier given hope to his teeming footsoldiers about his contribution towards the emergence of the new governor was taken aback at the very first appointments of the governor which included the Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff, Attorney General and Chief Press Secretary.

Buhari, Adesina Under Fire For Attacking CAN Over Execution

Nigeria Christian Graduate Fellowship (NCGF) has lambasted the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, for attacking the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), following its reaction to the murder of Reverend Lawan Andimi by Boko Haram.

Andimi, the Chairman of CAN in Michika Local government area of Adamawa state by Boko Haram, was beheaded by the insurgents.

CAN on Thursday rejected the reaction of President Buhari to the killing.

Buhari, who described the murder as cruel, inhuman and deliberately provocative, expressed sorrow that the terrorists went on to kill the religious leader while giving signals

We Are Ready To Conduct Election In Abi/Yakurr – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission in Cross River State is ready to conduct re-run election in Abi/Yakurr federal constituency in Cross River State.

NAN gathered that the Commission has received sensitive materials for the court ordered rerun elections in slated to hold in Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency on Saturday, January 25, 2020.

The materials were handed over to INEC officials by the Branch Controller, Central Bank of Nigeria, Calabar, Chuks Sokari on Friday. The materials included ballot papers, Forms EC 8A, EC 8D, EC 8E, among others.

Amotekun: APC Govs Reach Consensus On Community Policing

Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, are reaching consensus regarding the best strategy for tackling insecurity in their respective states.

Many of the Governors are also settling for “Community Policing”, according Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State.

Lalong disclosed this, Friday, in Abuja during the first quarterly meeting of the Governance Programme Steering Committee of the Progressive Governors’ Forum PGF.

The Governor, who is also the Chairman, Northern Governors’ Forum spoke to newsmen in his capacity as Co-Chairman of the governance steering committee.

Kano Re-Run: Will Jibrin, Dogwa Survive (Analysis)

Today, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will conduct re-run and by-elections in 11 states across the country, following series of court judgements on the last general election.

Particular interest will be on Kano State, where the re-run election of Alhassan Ado Dogwa, the Majority leader of the House of Representatives and Abdulmummin Jibrin will be taking place.

In November, the Court of Appeal sacked Dogwa and ordered INEC to conduct a fresh election. Three days earlier, the appeal court had also sacked Abdulmumin Jibrin, an influential member of the House from Kano State.
