Akpabio Gives Reasons For Withdrawing From Akwa-Ibom Rerun

Minister of Niger Delta Affairs , Senator Godswill Akpabio has distanced himself from the ongoing rerun election in Essien Udim local government area of Akwa Ibom State.

NAN had reported that the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state on Friday announced its decision to withdraw from the race.

It alleged a perceived bias of the electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) in the state.

Cross River Rerun: Security Rescue Abducted Corps Members

Six National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) members have been abducted and elections materials meant for Afafanyi and Igbonigoni House of Assembly re-run elections hijacked mid-sea along Etighidi River in Cross River State.

THISDAY  gathered that thugs suspected to be armed hijacked elections materials and abducted the INEC adhoc staff as they were about taking materials to Afafanyi and Igbonigoni wards for the rerun election on Saturday.

An eyewitness who declined giving his name alleged that the Corps members were accompanying the materials when suspected thugs allegedly abducted them and seized the materials.

Oba Of Benin Speaks On Unity Of Nigeria

The Oba of Benin, Omo N’oba N’edo Uku Akpolokpolo Ewuare II on Friday called for the peaceful co-existence and unity among Nigerians.

Ewuare II made the call during a courtesy visit on the governor of Niger State, Alhaji Abubakar Bello, at Government House, Minna.

Enugu Govt Bans Sale, Distribution Of Unauthorized Water

The Enugu State Government has banned the sale and distribution of water by water tankers and other vendors from unauthorized sources in the state “particularly the IBUSA Street Water/Stream in Independence Layout, Enugu”.

A statement by the Commissioner for Information, Nnanyelugo Chidi Aroh, stated that the ban was in furtherance of the commitment of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s administration to protect the health and safety of residents of Enugu.

CAN: You Are Insensitive – Apostle Suleman Blasts Adesina

Apostle Johnson Suleman of Omega Fire Ministries, on Saturday described Femi Adesina, President Muhammadu Buhari’s Media Aide as “insensitive.”

Suleman made the remark while condemning Adesina for attacking the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, following its reaction to the murder of Reverend Lawan Andimi by Boko Haram.

Andimi, the Chairman of CAN in Michika Local government area of Adamawa state was beheaded by the insurgents.

DSS Arrests Journalist Over Article On Buhari, Tinubu

The Department of State Services (DSS) has secretly arrested a young journalist, Ayoola Babalola.

DSS also charged him to court in discreet and Babalola is currently in prison.
