Corruption: Malami Disputes Transparency Report On Nigeria

The Federal Government has reacted to the Transparency International Corruption perceptions Index released on Thursday

THISDAY had reported that Nigeria dropped two steps below on the 2019 Transparency International Corruption Perception Index.

In the latest release on Thursday, Nigeria ranked 146 out of 180 countries studied.

Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigerian (IPMAN) has accused the Federal; Government (FG) of non inclusion during upward review of fuel pumps price.

Staff Raise Alarm As Provost Escapes With ₦19m Official Car

There is tension at the Federal College of Cooperative, Ibadan, over the alleged refusal of the immediate past Provost of the college, Mr Felix Ikechukwu Okafor, to hand over a ₦19m official car to in his possession to the institution.

Allison-Madueke Will Be Extradited This Year, Says Magu

The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Magu, wednesday vowed that a former Minister of Petroleum, Mrs. Diezani Allison-Madueke, would be extradited back to the country this year to face corruption charges.

He also accused some international partners, especially in the United Kingdom, of giving what he described as undue protection to the former minister.
Magu, during a visit to the Ibadan Zonal Office of the commission, said the agency was already changing its tactics and strategy of engaging foreign partners to ensure the extradition of the former minister.

Adamawa Gov Raises The Alarm Over Renewed B’Haram Attacks

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has pledged to revamp the security apparatus in the state in order to contain Boko Haram’s renewed barbaric onslaught on Adamawa communities.

Homosexuality: Gay Gene Ruled Out, Environment Blamed

Genes play just a small role in whether a person is gay, scientists have found, after discovering that environment has a far bigger impact on homosexuality.

In the biggest ever study into the genetic basis of sexuality, researchers from more than 30 institutions including Cambridge University and Harvard, looked at the DNA of nearly 500,000 people in Britain and the US.

Guardians of Democracy and Development; Partners for Legislative Agenda for Nigeria; Empowerment for Unemployed Youth Initiative; and a coalition of civil society and youth groups in Nigeria have challenged the Senate Deputy President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, to present court papers absolving him of the allegations of perjury.

Nigeria NUC: Nigeria Needs 300,000 Additional Doctors

National Universities Commission (NUC) yesterday decried the shortage of medical practitioners in the country, disclosing that Nigeria needs at least 300,000 additional qualified doctors to meet the standard set by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
