NSE Index Rise 0.7% as Profit Taking Moderates Appreciation

Profit taking by some investors moderated the growth of the Nigerian stock market last week as the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) All-Share Index (ASI) appreciated by 0.69 per cent to close at 29,618.52. 

The gain was lower than the record 9.1 per cent posted the previous week, which was the highest weekly growth in two years. Market capitalisation added N81.8 billion to close at N15.256 trillion.

The Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has been accused of running a government of secrecy where only his immediate family are the one in charge of governance.

The Executive Director, Engineering and Technical Services of Niger Delta Power Holding Company, NDPHC, Engr. Ife Oyedele, made the allegation.

Oyedele, is believed to be eyeing the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of the governorship poll in the state later this year, said that the state under the Akeredolu-led administration had been witnessing stunted growth.

‘You Are Nothing But APC Mole In PDP’ – Timi Hits Ikpeazu

Timi Frank, former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Monday described the Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu as a mole in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Frank made the allegation in response to Ikpeazu’s statement attacking him over his earlier remark that most PDP governors were not committed to the opposition politics in Nigeria.

He had claimed that most PDP governors are daily lobbying to be in the good books of President Muhammadu Buhari, hence they don’t talk on national issues affecting Nigerians negatively.

Tight Security As Supreme Court Sets For Judgment On Sokoto

The entrances to the Supreme Court, Monday, witnessed uncommon security arrangement as the apex court is set to deliver guber appeal judgments in the heavily politicised Sokoto and Kano states.

NAN observed that from the main entrance to the Villa gate, there are scores of armed security personnel turning back most vehicles and individuals going to the apex court for today’s judgements.

The heavily tensed atmosphere and presence of security agents almost everywhere even subjected many people, including various party stalwarts and journalists to trudging a long distance to the court premises.

Abule-Egba: Nigerians Trade Blames Over NNPC Explosion

A cross section of Nigerians have blamed the Lagos government over the explosion of a Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) pipeline at Ile Epo axis (near Abule Egba), Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Sunday said that two bodies had been recovered from the explosion site.

The raging fire caused panic among the residents of Abule Egba, Ile Epo and Ekoro Road due to the thick smoke which oozed out from the explosion scene.
