ABU Chancellor Wades Into VC Selection Crisis

The Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe has waded into the crisis over the selection of a new Vice Chancellor of the institution.

The Chancellor in a letter to the federal ministry of education and National Universities Commission, NUC, urged them to take urgent steps towards resolving the impasse.

He explained in a letter to the Executive Secretary, NUC, Prof Abubakar Rasheed, that the impasse was already common knowledge and could seriously dislocate the peaceful working of the institution.

The Federal Government has appealed to those living in border communities to exercise more patience over the suspension of fuel supply to their areas.

NAN recalls that the Federal Government, through the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), in November 2019, announced the suspension of petrol and diesel supply to filling stations within 20 kilometres radius to all Nigerian borders.

The Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Adewale Martins, says the Spiritual Director of the Adoration Ministry, Enugu, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, could be banned from preaching if he continues to deviate from the doctrines and tenets of the Catholic Church.
