INEC Gives Update On Sokoto Rerun Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has pledged to collaborate with Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other agencies to ensure transparency in the conduct of rerun elections in Sokoto State.

The state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr Abubakar Sadiq, stated this on Thursday at a stakeholders meeting preparatory to the election for four political seats scheduled on Jan. 25, 2020.

Sadiq said training of workers for the election had begun to ensure that they carry out their duties diligently.

He urged politicians to play the game by the rules, stressing that INEC would be transparent in its dealings

‘Buba Galadima Is Suffering From Political Dysfunction’

Governor Abdullah Umar Ganduje of Kano State has accused the leader of the defunct Congress for Progressives (CPC) Alhaji Buba Galadima of suffering from political malfunction.

Ganduje also described Buba Galadima’s claims on Kano state governorship election as baseless and lacking in required merit as well as a claim coming from a dysfunctional politician.

Galadima, had yesterday said the Supreme Court verdict that removed Emeka Ihedioha as governor of Imo state should not exonerate Governor Abdullah Umar Ganduje of Kano state due to what he considered similar incidence .

We Didn’t Defect To APC With Gboyega Isiaka – Ogun ADC

Reactions have been trailing the defection of the Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

DAILY POST recalls that Isiaka, fondly addressed as GNI, was on Tuesday received into the APC fold by Gov Dapo Abiodun of Ogun.

Former Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo, has admitted that he left Premier League side, Watford to join Chinese side, Changchun Yatai back in 2017 because of ‘money’.

An FCT High Court Maitama, on Thursday, fixed March 2 for further hearing in the trial of a Deputy Director with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), John Umesi, over alleged ₦54.3 million fraud.

Uzodinma: Ohanaeze Sends Message To Imo Residents

The Youth Wing of Ohaneze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural group, on Thursday, urged residents of Imo State, especially youths, to remain calm over the Supreme Court’s judgment on the governorship election in the state.

The apex court, had in a seven-man unanimous judgment on Tuesday, removed Chief Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as governor of Imo and declared Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the validly elected governor.

Kwara Gov Reads Riot Acts On Exam Malpractices

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Thursday, threatened heavy sanctions against any school heads or officials caught aiding and abetting examination malpractices, saying such action in the 2019 WAEC has led to the blacklist of 165 schools in the state and financial penalties from the examination body.

The examinations were held between 8th April and 31st May, 2019.

The development, the worst in the history of the state, affected 122 public secondary schools and 43 private schools, each fined N250,000.

Rapists In Adamawa To Get Special Treatment

The Adamawa State Government is to designate a court for the specific purpose of adjudicating over rape cases.

The government made the pronouncement Thursday against prevailing high number of rape incidents, most of them poorly prosecuted in the general courts.

The state Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Barr Afraimu Jingi, who spoke on the matter to newsmen in his office at the state Secretariat in Yola, said the court to be designated would have personnel whose dedication would be to handle rape cases.\
