Armed Forces Remembrance Day: Why FG Must Review Welfare

Senator representing Plateau North, Istifanus Gyang has appealed to the Federal Government to use the 2020 Armed Forces Remembrance Day to review the welfare of serving officers and men as well as retirees, “including dead benefits and wellbeing of surviving families”.

 

He also said as the Deputy Chairman Senate Committee on Defence, the Committee will initiate and engage necessary legislative interventions to further equip and empower the Armed Forces “to effectively undertake and deliver on their clearly defined constitutional responsibility”.

Gyang disclosed this through his Special Adviser Media and Protocol, Ibrahim Musa Ashoms, on the occasion of the 2020

How Pastor In UK Raped Children, Adults In church

A 60-year-old Cherubim and Seraphim pastor based in Birmingham, in the United Kingdom, identified as Michael Oluronbi was on Tuesday, January 14th, convicted by a UK court for 24 counts of child sexual abuse and rape.

He was found guilty of 15 counts of rape, seven counts of indecent assault, and two counts of sexual assault

Oluronbi was arrested at Birmingham Airport in May last year, while trying to leave the country for Nigeria, Daily Mail reports.

Why Buhari Govt Declared Amotekun ‘Illegal’ – Fani-Kayode

Femi Fani-Kayode, former Minister of Aviation has kicked against a statement by the Nigerian government describing ‘Operation Amotekun’ as illegal.

Recall that in a statement signed by the Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Dr Umar Gwandu, the government said the establishment of Amotekun was not backed by any known law in the land.

“The setting up of the paramilitary organization called “Amotekun” is illegal and runs contrary to the provisions of the Nigerian law.,” Malami said.

Imo: What Ohanaeze Said About Uzodinma After Victory

The Youth Wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has congratulated Sen. Hope Uzodinma on his Supreme Court victory on Tuesday, saying that it is a `victory well deserved’.

Minimum Wage: Govt Begins Payment January

The Niger State Government will commence the payment of the new National Minimum Wage this January.

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello made this disclosure on Tuesday when he received Chairmen of the 25 Local Government Areas.

He said that a committee has been set up already and considerable progress has been made in an ongoing negotiation to begin the implementation of the new minimum wage.

Imo : How Okorocha Reacted To Uzodinma’s Victory

Former Imo Gov. Rochas Okorocha has felicitated Sen. Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the Supreme Court ruling declaring him the winner of the 2019 governorship election in the State.

NAN  reports that the Supreme Court nullified election of Emeka Ihedioha of the PDP as the governor of the state and declared Uzodinma winner of the governorship election held in Imo.

It ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to withdraw the certificate of return from former Governor Emeka Ihedioha and issue Uzodinma with certificate of return as governor of the state.
