Maina Vs EFCC: What Happened In Court On Tuesday

The Federal High Court, Abuja, on Tuesday, dismissed the application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to screen its fourth prosecution witness (PW4) in the ongoing trial of Abdulrasheed Maina, ex-Pension Reform boss.

Justice Okon Abang gave the order after listening to arguments of counsel to the parties in the case.

Imo: Nigerians React As Court Sacks Ihedioha

Mixed reactions have trailed the defeat of Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha at the Supreme Court.

NAN had reported that the Supreme Court on Tuesday sacked Gov Emeka Ihedioha and declared APC’s Hope Uzodimma as the Governor of Imo State.

It, therefore, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to withdraw the certificate of return from former Governor Emeka Ihedioha and issue Uzodimma with certificate of return as governor of the state.

NIS Speaks On 2020 Recruitment

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), has warned applicants against patronising fake recruitment sites as the service was not recruiting.

A statement by its spokesman, Mr Sunday James, said on Tuesday in Abuja that Mr Muhammad Babandede, NIS Comptroller-General, issued the warning while reacting to the reported existence of fake NIS websites across the country.

The crisis in the All Progressives Congress (APC) took a new dimension on Tuesday following the announcement of Arch. Waziri Bulama as the new National Secretary by the National Working Committee(NWC) of the party.

2023: INEC Speaks On When Registration For PVC Will Begin

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Oyo State, Mr Mutiu Agboke, has said the continuous voters’ registration would soon commence.

Agboke made the disclosure at a stakeholder meeting on Tuesday in Iseyin.

He said the exercise would capture new registrants and those that have issues with their PVCs such as replacement of lost or defaced cards and transfers from former locations.

The REC said that no fewer than 700,000 PVCs were still in the custody of the commission.

Reps Panel Orders NERC, Discos To Suspend Tariff Hike

The House of Representatives, through its committee on Power has directed the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to suspend its planned electricity increment.

The electricity regulatory body had earlier announced planned hike which will take effect from April.

Students To Petition EFCC Over ₦208bn Fraud In TETFUND

University Students, under the auspices of the National Association of Universities’ Students( (NAUS), have threatened to petition the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate alleged plundering of over N208 billion Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) released to the agency by the federal government.

The statue of late Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, who was situated by the former Governor of Lagos state Akinwunmi Ambode at Allen Avenue Ikeja has been pulled down by the current Lagos State Government.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s spokesperson, Gboyega Akosile confirmed that the statue has been pulled down, said the roundabout where it was located was identified as one of the four locations in Lagos that cause traffic gridlock.

The Supreme Court has declared Senator Hope Uzodimma as governor of Imo State.

The seven-member panel of justices today held that Emeka Ihedioha was not duly elected Governor.

Earlier in the day, the issue of candidacy of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the March 9, 2019 governorship election in Imo state has forced one of the candidates, Uche Nwosu, to withdraw his appeal at the Supreme Court. Nwosu, who decamped to the Action Alliance (AA) before the election, was said to have also been presented by a faction of the APC as the party’s candidate in the election.
