Akwa Ibom CP Asks State Assembly To Revisit Vigilante Bill

The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, CP Imohimi Edgal, has called on the State House of Assembly to reconsider as well as pass into law the ‘Vigilante Bill’ as soon as it resumes plenary on January 21, 2020.

The Commissioner noted that passing the vigilante bill into law in the state was important as it would give the group a legal framework in combating crimes and criminality in the communities.

Act Of Terrorism: Plateau Lawmakers React As Gunmen Kill 13

Senator Representing Plateau North at the National Assembly, Istifanus Gyang, has urged security agencies to immediately arrest the gunmen that killed 13 persons in an attack on Kumbun community in Mangu Local Government Area of the state on Thursday morning.

Gyang, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Protocol, Musa Ashoms, said that he received with rude shock the report of the killing of 12 persons at Kumbun, in Mangu local government area.

Man Docked For Allegedly Defrauding Bank Of ₦1.8 million

A 46-year-old man, Oluyemi Olusegun, has appeared before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defrauding a bank of ₦1.8 million.

Olusegun, whose address was not disclosed in the charge sheet, is standing trial on a charge of fraud.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court that the accused committed the offence sometimes in the month of January, 2019 in Ilupeju-Ekiti, Oye Local Government Area.

Akinwale said that the defendant borrowed money from Albatross Ventures, a Micro-Finance Bank.

The complainant, from whom the loan facility was obtained, Miss Mercy Adebayo, is the manager of the bank.

Labour Union Reveals Next Action Over New Minimum Wage

The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) has directed state councils of the union to commence mobilisation of their members immediately, should state governments failed to implement the new minimum wage by the end of January 2020.

Nigerians Issued 12 Hours To Vacate South Africa

Nigerians and other foreign nationals resident in South Africa’s Keimoes and Upington areas of Northern Cape Province were on Thursday morning given 12 hours to vacate by the indigenes.

The President of Nigeria Union in South Africa, Mr Adetola Olubajo, made the disclosure in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Lagos.

Canada Finally Reveals Who Shot Down Plane, Killing 176

Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau has revealed that it was actually Iran’s missile that shot down the Ukrainian airliner with 176 passengers on board

He said that evidence indicates an Iranian missile downed the jetliner on Wednesday, adding that the strike “may have been unintentional”.

According to the Prime Minister, Canadian and allied intelligence carried out the investigation.

He said it appeared it was a surface-to-air missile that struck the plane.

An Israeli airstrike on eastern Syria has killed more than eight fighters from Iraq’s Iran-backed Hashed al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Force – PMF).

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to immediately release former Kaduna lawmaker, Shehu Sani.

THISDAY reports that Operatives of EFCC on Thursday reportedly invaded the Abuja residence of Senator Shehu Sani over alleged extortion.

It was gathered that the EFCC officials stormed the apartment in Wuse, Abuja at about 3:30pm on Wednesday to look for incriminating evidence against the former Kaduna senator.

The Iranian Civil Aviation Organisation, has revealed how the Ukrainian air plane with 176 passengers on board crashed.
