Ikeja Electric And Prepaid Meter Processing

The prepaid processing and procedure of Ikeja Electric Plc is not only disturbing and counter-productive, but promotes corruption as well as impedes Federal Government’s intention or goal on the country’s electricity billing system.

My frustration began five months ago, when I submitted three forms for processing at Ikeja Electric Plc’s office on Irawo bus-stop, Owode, Onirin, Lagos on August 15, 2019, hoping that the process was over and the prepaid meter will be supplied and installed anytime soon after the submission. But, alas, I was wrong.

In apparent confirmation of the fears expressed at different levels and fora by Nigerians, the presidency has at last confirmed that the Buhari administration is curiously run with the assistance of a cabal. Mallam Garba Shehu, a Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, asserted the other day that there indeed had been a group of unofficial advisers working with the president whom he called ‘‘kitchen cabinet,’’ branded by the Nigerian media as a cabal. He justified the practice and virtually berated the media for being sensational in reporting the cabal matter. No matter how nicely

The Trumpeter Of These Times?

The discerning world has been thrown into fear and confusion following the unexpected elimination of Quassem Soleimani, the highest-ranking General in Iran, on Thursday, last week. The stunned world knew that tension that has been building up in the Middle-East had been brought to a new high. It was predictable that the assassination of General Soleimani would be avenged. Iran’s Supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khomeini wasted no time in waving the red flag. He threatened the United States with Jihad. In a televised statement during Friday prayers, he said: “All enemies should know that the Jihad of resistance will continue

The Challenges Of University Education In Nigeria

The quest for higher education in Nigeria is ever on the increase. Earlier on in the life of the Nigerian republic, university education was thought fit only for men while ladies were considered to be equipped only with housekeeping skills. The primary six school leaving certificate was considered the most appropriate for women and was considered a feat for a woman to attain secondary school education. Today, the number of candidates aspiring to gain admission into Nigerian Universities regardless of sex is greatly on the rise by many fold. However, attaining a University Education in Nigeria comes with significant huddles

Crossing Saraki’s Red Line: The Unbearable Arrogance

Watching the ensuing royal mud show coming from Kwara State, it is now safe to assert that the masquerade without a mask is the father of the masquerade that wears a mask. And in a life marked by unremitting adversity and misfortune, laughter is the best medicine and superior political therapy. That is perhaps why after the political charlatans, comic clowns and comedians have remained the most rewarded in the state. In a political rugby however, when mud is thrown real hard, some of it is bound to stick. And in all that has trailed the recent revocation, reacquisition
