Housewife Pushes Co-Wife, Son Into Well

The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old housewife, Hauwa Lawal, for allegedly pushing her co-wife Zuwaira Sani, 35 and her 18-month-old son into a well.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the arrest in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Kano.

Haruna said the police received a report on Friday that Lawal of Rurum village of Rano Local Government Area of Kano, had pushed her co-wife and baby into a well.

Soleimani’s Successor, Ghaani Reveals Avenger Of General

Esmail Ghaani, the new head of the Iranian Quds Force, on Monday warned of imminent revenge on the United States, US, following the death of General, Qassem Soleimani.

Ghaani, who succeeds Soleimani as head of Quds Force warned that God who is the main avenger will avenge the death of General Soleimani.

Speaking during the funeral of Soleimani in Tehran, the country’s capital, Ghaani insisted that “actions” will certainly be taken.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has slammed President Muhammadu Buhari for counselling Nigerians against travelling abroad to seek medical help.

PDP charged Buhari to lead by example, stressing that such remark was ridiculous.

Buhari had on Friday during the inauguration and handover of a completed project to the management of the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital in Abakaliki, urged Nigerians to stop travelling abroad for medical treatment.

Buhari, Natl Assembly Dragged To Court Over $29.96bn Loan

The fresh $29.96 billion foreign loans being sought by President Muhammadu Buhari government has drawn the fury of a human right lawyer, Barrister Kanmi Ajibola.

Ajibola on Monday instituted a legal action seeking the mandate of the court to stop the National Assembly from approving the loan.

The Senate had recently referred President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2016 – 2018 External Borrowing Plan request to its Committee on Local and Foreign Debts.

Gunmen Kidnap APC Chairman In Ondo

Armed men suspected to be kidnappers on Sunday kidnapped a ward Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ondo State.

The ward Chairman identified as James Tolorunju Ajulo was said to have been taken away by the kidnappers when they stormed his home.

Ajulo who was abducted in front of his residence at Ibaka quarters of Akungba Akoko in Akoko South West Local Government was driven away in his personal car after the gunmen had ransacked his house.

NERC Denies Increase In Electricity Tariff

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) on Sunday said no tariff increase was approved by the commission.

NAN had reported that President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government through the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, approved an increase in electricity tariff by the Electricity Distribution Companies, DisCos, in the country.

The directive of the new tariff regime for different DisCos and category of customers was published on NERC website on Saturday.

The directive was signed by the NERC Chairman, Prof. James Momoh and Secretary, Mr. Dafe Akpedeye.
