PDP Attacks Govt Over Increase In Electricity Tariff

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, rejected the over 200 percent increase in electricity tariff announced by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.

PDP described the decision as “draconian” and completely against the interest and wellbeing of Nigerians.

A statement by PDP’s spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan on Sunday charged the Federal Government to immediately rescind the obnoxious and provocative policy and consult further with Nigerians before any such tariff hike.

Troops Overrun B /Haram With MRAP, Free More Captives

The Nigerian Army on Sunday said its troops in the North East theatre of operations have tested the recently inducted indigenous Mines Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles against Boko Haram terrorists in recent encounters.

The Nigerian Army Operations Media Coordinator, Col. Aminu Iliyasu, in a statement on Sunday, disclosed that the deployment of the MRAP dealt a deadly blow on the terrorists.

Police Reacts To Video Of Its Men Beating Man With Gun

The Police Command in Enugu State has commenced investigation into an alleged misconduct by four policemen which was shown in a video clip in Enugu metropolis.

A video showing four policeman beating a young man with gun had on Saturday emerged online.

In the video, the policemen were seen chasing, assaulting the young man identified as Justice Obasi for refusing to unlock his phone.

It was alleged that the policemen accused Obasi of being a yahoo boy.

Residents of Oyo town in Oyo state on Sunday woke up to the news of an early morning inferno that gutted more than half of the town’s main market, Akesan.
