Inter Milan on Saturday cancelled coach Antonio Conte’s press conference ahead of their league game against Fiorentina because of “an offensive letter” published in a leading Italian sports daily.

“Yesterday (Friday), the Corriere dello Sport published an offensive letter towards our coach, justifying its aggression in the comment,” the Italian team said in a statement on Twitter as journalists were waiting for the start of the press conference.

“In order to send a signal to all media that they must ‘guarantee respect of people,’ we will not hold a press conference today.”

French Veteran Ribery Out For 10 Weeks After Ankle Surgery

French midfielder Franck Ribery will be sidelined for 10 weeks after undergoing surgery on his right ankle, his club Fiorentina confirmed on Saturday.

Ribery, 36, had to be helped off the pitch after a clash with Lecce midfielder Panagiotis Tachtsidis on November 30.

The veteran underwent joint stabilisation surgical treatment in Germany and it “succeeded perfectly,” the club said.

The former Bayern Munich player will return to Florence on Sunday, to begin physiotherapy treatment and in two weeks time the active work will begin.

Former Test wicketkeeper Mark Boucher was on Saturday named as South African team head coach until 2023.

An upbeat Boucher said South African cricket had been through “trying times” but added that he was confident that the national team could be successful against England.

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) yesterday concluded the review of responses submitted by the eight electricity distribution companies (Discos) that were under the threat of losing their operational licenses for reportedly abusing sections of the Electric Power Sector Reform Act (EPSRA) 2005.
