Gov. Abiodun Reacts As Women Protest Exclusion

Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, has promised women in the state that more of them would be appointed in the State Executive Council, as well as agencies and boards.

Abiodun, who spoke following the recently released list of commissioners, said the list was not exhaustive, adding that new commissioner positions reserved exclusively for women would be unveiled shortly.

NAN reports that women groups in their large numbers besieged the entrance of the governor’s office protesting the exclusion of women in the government.

Rivers Wins Soku Oil Wells From Bayelsa

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday ordered the transfer of Soku oil field from Bayelsa State to its rightful owner, Rivers State.

Delivering judgment in a suit instituted by Rivers State, Justice Inyang Ekwo, ordered the National Boundary Commission to rectify the error in its 11th edition of Administrative Map, which designated San Bartholomew River as the boundary between the two states, instead of River Santa Barbara.

The error was said to have surfaced in the 11th edition of Administrative Map produced by the NBC in 2002.

A bank employee in Charlotte, North Carolina, allegedly stole $88,000 from the bank’s vault, according to a release from the United States Attorney’s Office Western District of North Carolina.

2019 Election: Wike Under Fire Over Death Of 42 Ijaw Sons

The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, has attacked Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, over the killing of 42 of their sons and daughters during the 2019 general elections.

The IYC launched the attack in a statement signed by its Secretary-General, Alfred Kemepado.

The IYC, in the statement reminded Wike that 42 of its kinsmen in Rivers State died in the violence that characterized the election that made him a governor.

The youths, who issued the statement at Harry’s Town, expressed disappointment that despite their death, Wike had yet to give them befitting burials.

Senate Suspends Hearing On Social Media Bill Till Next Year

The Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters has suspended further legislative actions on the controversial anti-social media bill sponsored by Senator Musa Sani till January next year.
