Family members and human rights activists pursuing the prosecution of a child defilement suspect expressed disenchantment in court in Yola Tuesday, after they learnt that the file on the case could not be presented before the judge.

The case, which became a court issue last year, September 2018, has been about a 25-year-old man, Aliyu Mohammed, who is being tried for allegedly defiling a five-year-old neighbour in Yola Town, Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

A political activist and former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Comrade Timi Frank, has distanced himself from the report of PRNigeria claiming that only N40 billion were stolen from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) to prosecute 2019 election by the ruling party.

Falana To Malami: You Risk Being Removed As AGF

Femi Falana, senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN), says Abubakar Malami risks being removed as the attorney-general of the federation (AGF) if he fails to secure the release of Omoyele Sowore.

Last Friday, Malami took over Sowore’s case from the Department of State Services (DSS), and with this development, Falana, counsel to the activist, asked him to use his office to secure Sowore’s release.

The AGF, however, said he cannot take any decision on Sowore’s release.

Justice Iyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court has ordered the Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami and DG of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Bichi, to appear before the court over the detention of Omoyele Sowore.

Customs Seizes Foreign Rice From ‘Buhari’s Storekeeper’

Operatives of the Border Drill Operations of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have reportedly seized 140 bags of foreign rice at a warehouse in Daura.

The warehouse allegedly belongs to Alhaji Habu Sarkin-Fulani.

Daily Nigerian reports that the owner is a confidant of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Customs operatives, acting on a tip-off, stormed Fegi quarters in Daura, the hometown of the president, and seized the rice.
