Kano: Ganduje Makes New Appointments

Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has approved the appointment of substantive Head of Service, in person of Hajiya Binta Lawan Ahmed.

Ahmed, until her appointment was the Permanent Secretary State Ministry of Commerce.

She replaces Dr Kabiru Shehu, who was in acting capacity, after the completion of his service years, with the state civil service, few weeks back.

Tunde Balogun, Chairman, Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says the defection of bigwigs from opposition parties to the ruling party in the state is a measure of the growing confidence in APC.

Senator Sabi Abdullahi, the Niger state lawmaker behind the controversial hate speech bill, has stated that renovation of the National Assembly complex which was built in 1999 is long overdue.

Abdullahi, reacting to the outcry from Nigerians, said that the N37bn project is not on the high side as the NASS complex was bigger inside than what it looks like on the outside.

NJC Approves Appointment Of 33 Judges In 11 States

The National Judicial Council (NJC) has approved the appointments of 33 heads of courts in 11 states.

This was contained in a statement on Thursday by NJC Director of Information, Soji Oye.

Eight-year-old Ryan Kaji earned $26 million in 2019 on his YouTube channel, making him the highest-paid creator on the platform, according to a list published Wednesday by Forbes magazine.

Kaji, whose real name is Ryan Guan, was already the video platform’s highest earner in 2018, with $22 million, according to Forbes.

The number of male tobacco users is falling for the first time, the World Health Organization said Thursday, hailing a “major shift” in efforts to kick the world’s deadly tobacco addiction.

The number of women and girls who use tobacco products has been steadily declining for years. But tobacco use among males — who account for the overwhelming majority of smokers — has until now been expanding.

FC Cologne Scraps China Football Academy

German Bundesliga club FC Cologne has pulled out of a football academy in China, with one senior official saying “human rights are massively disrespected” in the country.

Cologne had been slated to run the school for young footballers in Shenyang, northeast China, for 1.8 million euros ($2.0 million).
