Rudiger Racism Row Takes New Twist Amid Report Of Son Abuse

The latest racism row engulfing English football took a fresh turn Monday amid reports Tottenham Hotspur’s Son Heung-min as well as Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger had been abused by spectators during Sunday’s fractious London derby.

Chelsea’s 2-0 Premier League win at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium saw referee Anthony Taylor halt play during the second half when Rudiger complained of hearing monkey noises from spectators.

Iachini Appointed Fiorentina Coach

Giuseppe Iachini has been appointed coach of struggling Fiorentina, the Serie A club confirmed on Monday.

Iachini, 55, replaces Vincenzo Montella who was sacked on Saturday with the team trailing in 15th place, three points above the relegation zone.

CBN Reduced Bank Charges to Pacify Customers, Says Emefiele

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, yesterday explained that the banking sector regulator decided to review downward bank charges to ameliorate the pains of customers.

Prophet Alfa Remanded In Prison Over Ondo Missing Child

The founder of Sotitobire Miracle Centre, Prophet Babatunde Alfa has been remanded at Olokuta Correctional Centre.

Prophet Alfa who was dragged before an Akure Magistrate Court on Monday by the Department of State Security, DSS, was accused of allegedly being involved in the mysterious disappearance of a one-year-old boy, Gold Kolawole from his church.

The embattled Prophet was ordered to be remanded in prison by Magistrate Charity Adeyanju alongside six workers of the church who were said to be manning the church’s children department when the incident occurred.

The Presidency has condemned the decision of the United States, US, to include Nigeria in its “special watch list” of countries that have engaged in or tolerated “severe violations of religious freedom”.

Justice Daniel Longji of the Federal High Court, Jos, Plateau State, Monday, scheduled December 31, for ruling on the no case submission made by former Plateau State Governor, Senator Jonah Jang.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), has blamed the poor attention students get from lecturers to the poor learning environment across universities.

ECOWAS Endorses Adesina For Second Term As AFDB President

Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has endorsed the candidacy of Dr Akinwumi Adesina, the President of African Development Bank (AfDB), for a second term.

The decision was announced in a communique signed by the commission’s President, Jean-Claude Kassi at the end of the 56th ordinary session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS, held in Abuja.

The lawmaker representing Egbeda/Ona Ara Federal Constituency, Akin Alabi has reacted to the arrest of Shina Peller, owner of Quilox night club.

NAN had reported that the police in Lagos State had arrested and detained Peller, a member of the House of Representatives, at the Moroko Police Station.

Peller, who is representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency, Oyo State, was allegedly arrested while trying to take the bail of some clubbers.

NDLEA Gives Update On 2019 Recruitment

The management of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has appealed for calm among candidates who are undergoing the aptitude test for its recruitment exercise nationwide.

Head of Public affairs of the agency, Mr Jonah Achema, disclosed this in a statement made available to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Abuja.
