Ortom Cries Out As Buhari Govt Withdraws Military

The Governor of Benue State, Dr Samuel Ortom, has cried out over Federal Government’s decision to withdraw the military from combatting insurgents and other internal uprisings.

The Federal Government, during the Security Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa on Monday, decided that the Nigeria Police Force will now take over from the military in the ongoing internal security operations in various parts of the country by the first quarter of next year.

The Council decided that the military will pull out from the ongoing internal security operations.

EFCC Told To Probe Governors’ Wives

The Writers Against AIDS has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to probe the financial transactions of state agencies for the control of HIV/AIDS mostly headed by governors’ wives.

This was contained in a statement on Monday by the National Coordinator, Wole Adedoyin.

Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly have amended the Land Use Charge Law, 2018 passed by the Akinwunmi Ambode government.

Ambode was widely criticised for the controversial Law.

The 6-man Ad Hoc Committee, Chaired by Hon. Rotimi Olowo, presented the report of the findings of the committee to members at the Plenary on Monday.

The Federal Government has described the Boko Haram and Islamic State of West African Province, ISWAP, as irrational and inhuman.

Jonathan Speaks As Navy, JTF Visits Residence

The Joint Task Force (JTF), code named Operation Delta Safe, and the Nigerian Navy on Monday visited former President Goodluck Jonathan’s residence in Otuoke, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa.

Rochas Okorocha, Imo West Senator, has described himself as the most highly misunderstood person in Nigeria, saying that no governor, past or present in Imo State has been able to beat his record of achievements.

UK: Teenagers, Others Arrested For Terrorism

The British police arrested a total of five men in various parts of England on suspicion of terrorism on Monday.

The arrests occurred in Manchester in the north-west, in Peterborough in eastern England and in London.

Some of the suspects, aged between 19 and 23, are accused of preparing a terrorist act. All five are in police custody, Dpa reports.

“The arrests were part of a pre-planned operation and it is not believed there will be any imminent threat to the public in relation to this,” the police statement said.

The Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has singed into law the 2020 finance and appropriation bills of over ₦108.3 billion.

The signing follows approval made by the State Assembly after weeks of budget scrutiny.

Governor Buni said, “the 2020 Finance and Appropriation Bills passed by the House and now presented for my assent provides for a total aggregate expenditure of N108, 314, 101, 082.

The Edo State Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Diaspora Affairs, Hon. Osazee Osemwengie Ero, has been arrested by the Interpol in far away France.

Lawmaker Slumps, Dies

A member of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Isah Harisu, is dead.

The lawmaker passed away on Monday during plenary.

Harisu, the representative of Kebbe Constituency, was said to have arrived the assembly complex in seeming good health.

THISDAY gathered that he later showed signs of discomfort, slumped and died.

Deputy Speaker, Abubakar Magaji, who confirmed his death, said that the lawmaker, a member of the APC, who represented Kebbe constituency, was rushed to Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital when he slumped in the morning.

Kaduna State chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Rev. Joseph Hayab, has said that the Church in Nigeria is undergoing real persecution.

Pastor Tunde Bakare Meets Buhari In Aso Rock

The General Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, on Monday met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Bakare was Buhari’s running mate in the 2011 general election.

However, in September this year, he declared that he would succeed Buhari as Nigeria’s next president.

No official reason was given for the meeting and the cleric also did not speak to newsmen.
