NIS Gives Deadline For e-Registration Of Foreign Migrants

The Cross River Command of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has called on foreign migrants, who are yet to be captured in its database, to do so before the January 2020 deadline.

The Comptroller of NIS in the state, Mr Okey Ezugwu, made the call during the end of year party held at the Command’s headquarters to celebrate the year’s activities in Calabar.

Ezugwu said that the Federal Government gave six months for the migrants to register for free in the NIS database so that they can be accounted for.

Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, has said the passage of the Hate Speech Bill under consideration by the National Assembly will address all issues of discrimination associated with religious and ethnic persecution in Nigeria.

Sabi Abdullahi stated this against the backdrop of impending sanctions faced by Nigeria following its inclusion on the ‘special watchlist’ of the United States Government over high cases of religious and ethnic persecution.

Sowore: Malami Speaks On ‘US Letter’ Warning Buhari Govt

Abubakar Malami, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, on Sunday declared that he did not receive any correspondence from the United States, US, lawmakers over the re-arrest and continued detention of Omoyele Sowore, convener of the RevolutionNow protest.

Malami stated that no such letter got to his office before the close of work last Friday.

Sowore has been in custody of the Department of State Service, DSS, since he called for a revolution earlier in the year.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division, Nigerian Army, Odogbo Ibadan, Maj-Gen Anthony Omozoje, has advised soldiers to remain focus and “disregard fake news on the social media about the situations in the North East Nigeria”.

National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) has raised concern that it lost four Chief Nursing Officers within six months due to stress from work overload.
