22 Former Nigerian Govs, 11 Serving Senators Under Probe

Nigeria’s Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, has claimed that 22 former governors are currently under investigation for corruption.

Malami stated this on Thursday, while addressing journalists in Abuja.

He pointed out that at least three ex-Governors – Joshua Dariye (Plateau), Jolly Nyame (Taraba) and Orji Kalu (Abia) – have been convicted under President Muhammadu Buhari.

“It might interest you to note that former state governors and even serving senators are not spared.

“Currently, high profile personalities including judicial officers and former governors indicted for corruption have been prosecuted and many sentenced to jail.

Kano: Ganduje Makes New Appointments

Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has approved the appointment of substantive Head of Service, in person of Hajiya Binta Lawan Ahmed.

Ahmed, until her appointment was the Permanent Secretary State Ministry of Commerce.

She replaces Dr Kabiru Shehu, who was in acting capacity, after the completion of his service years, with the state civil service, few weeks back.

Senator Sabi Abdullahi, the Niger state lawmaker behind the controversial hate speech bill, has stated that renovation of the National Assembly complex which was built in 1999 is long overdue.

NJC Approves Appointment Of 33 Judges In 11 States

The National Judicial Council (NJC) has approved the appointments of 33 heads of courts in 11 states.

This was contained in a statement on Thursday by NJC Director of Information, Soji Oye.

He explained that the Council considered the list of candidates presented by its Interview Committee during its meeting which held on Tuesday and Wednesday.
