Corruption Stifling Nigeria’s Growth – Stakeholders

As Nigeria continues to battle corruption issues, especially in the budget process, stakeholders have advocated for increased citizen participation.

This was as they gathered in Enugu, weekend, at a forum organized by the Civil Resource Development and Documentation Centre (CIRDDOC) in partnership with WRAPA, with support from the MacArthur Foundation, bemoaning the level of corruption in the budget process.

Policemen Caught On Camera Extorting Money [VIDEO]

Armed Policemen from Orerokpe Divisional Headquarters have been caught on video camera allegedly extorting money from a Commercial tricycle operator and other motorists at Oha Junction along the Eku/Abraka road in Delta State.

In the video, a policeman was seen demanding for One Hundred Naira.

He was given Five Hundred Naira note which he collected and gave the commercial tricycle operator four hundred naira change in return.

The video was captured by a Chattered Accountant based in Warri, Mr. Edesiri Irhirhi on Monday, December 16 and was sent to Our Correspondent in Warri.

Reps Ask FG To Subsidize Kidney Treatment

The House of Representatives on Tuesday urged the Federal Government to fully equip kidney dialysis centres in health facilities across the country and subsidize treatments for kidney disease patients.

The House made the call following the adoption of a motion moved by Zannah Usman on Tuesday.

Moving the motion, Usman said that subsidizing the cost of treatment would encourage patients to seek early intervention.

The lawmaker said that according to reports, the disease affects 20 percent of Nigerians and contributes to the rising mortality rates in the country.

Family members and human rights activists pursuing the prosecution of a child defilement suspect expressed disenchantment in court in Yola Tuesday, after they learnt that the file on the case could not be presented before the judge.

Falana To Malami: You Risk Being Removed As AGF

Femi Falana, senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN), says Abubakar Malami risks being removed as the attorney-general of the federation (AGF) if he fails to secure the release of Omoyele Sowore.

Last Friday, Malami took over Sowore’s case from the Department of State Services (DSS), and with this development, Falana, counsel to the activist, asked him to use his office to secure Sowore’s release.

The AGF, however, said he cannot take any decision on Sowore’s release.

Less than two weeks after the embattled chairman of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State threw in the towel, the State Executive Committee (SEC) members of the party in the state, have removed the Acting Chairman of the party, Hon.
