FG To Sign MoU On Ajaokuta Steel In January

The Federal Government has promised to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by January 2020, with a Russian company for the resuscitation of the multi-billion naira Ajaokuta Steel Rolling Mills, located in Kogi State.

Disclosing this on Monday in Kaduna, the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Mr. Olamilekan Adegbite, said the Federal Government meant business in bringing  back on stream the steel rolling mill which have been down since the late President Shehu Shagari regime in the early 80s.

Yuletide: Police Ban Use Of Fireworks In Enugu

The Police Command in Enugu State has reiterated its ban on use of fireworks, knockout and bangers this Yuletide.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ebere Amaraizu, said this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Enugu.

Amaraizu noted that the ban was due to their explosives safety and security implications.

He said: “Their usages are capable of diverting the attention of security agencies from knowing when things are going wrong in our environment.

B’Haram Explosives Kill Army Commander, Soldiers In Borno

An army commander and two soldiers have been feared killed by explosives buried on a road by Boko Haram in the northern part of Borno.
The vehicle conveying the commander and two other soldiers on patrol at Marte a community around the Lake Chad shores ran over explosives buried on the way at the weekend.
An army officer, a major believed to be the commander of the 153 Task Force Battalion in Marte in the patrol vehicle was killed. Two other soldiers were also feared killed, two military sources said.

Senator Sues Ebonyi Over ₦361m Debt

Senator representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Chief Obinna Ogba, has dragged the Ebonyi government to state High Court, Abakaliki Division, for allegedly refusing to pay an outstanding balance of ₦361,718,875 million owed his hotel, Salt Lake Hotels Limited, Abakaliki.
In suit No. HAB/15/2015, which was brought before Justice Elvis Ngene, Senator Ogba who is the Chief Executive Officer of the hotel, asked the court to order the defendant to pay the said debt.
Ogba claimed that the debt accumulated from accommodation bill owed his hotel from 7th February, 2011 to 30th September, 2014.

Buhari Leaves For Peace, Development Forum In Egypt

President Muhammadu Buhari will depart Abuja today for Egypt to attend the Aswan Forum designed to set an agenda for sustainable peace and development in Africa.
