Gombe Ranked 2nd Most Corrupt State, Governor Reacts

Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has reacted to a recent survey report released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) ranking Gombe as the second most corrupt state in Nigeria.

The Governor, giving his remark at an event to mark the 2019 Anti-Corruption Day in Gombe, blamed the poor ranking on the previous state administration.

Governor Yahaya accused the past administration of Ibrahim Dankwambo of plundering the resources of the state by initiating white elephant projects.

Wike Approves Enrolment Of More Pensioners On Payroll

Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers has approved the inclusion of 2,673 additional retirees into the monthly pension payment scheme of the state government.

According to a statement on Sunday by the Director-General, Rivers State Pension Board, Ijeoma Samuel, the approval followed the completion of biometric data capture of the new pensioners.

This is in addition to the 15,400 pensioners currently receiving monthly pensions, the statement said.

According to the statement, the State Monthly Pensions Payroll now has 18,073 Pensioners while the biometric capture was ongoing for public servants retiring between August and December 2019.

EFCC Secures Conviction Of 111 Fraudsters In Southeast

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it has obtained the conviction of 111 fraudsters in the South East between January and November, 2019.

The commission also said that it had secured the final forfeiture of N1.5billion state-of-the-art 200 bedded hospital linked to an aide to former governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha.

The South East Zonal Head of the EFCC, Mr Usman Imam said this on Monday in Enugu during the 2019 International Anti-corruption Day.

Ekiti Poll: Fayemi Tasks Police On Killing

Gov. Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti has directed the police to fish out the killers of one Dotun Kosedake who was shot during Saturday’s local government election in the state.

The governor gave the directive in a statement issued on Sunday night in Ado-Ekiti by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Yinka Oyebode.

He, however, expressed satisfaction at the general conduct of the election.

A group, Association of Imo Patriots, has called on the Governor of Imo state, Emeka Ihedioha to apologise to the immediate past governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha following the recently released Second Corruption Survey in Nigeria by the National Bureau of Statistics, which ranked Imo as the least corrupt of the 36 States.

The Lagos State Agro-Processing, Productivity Enhancement and Livelihood Improvement Support (APPEALS) is set to empower over 1,600 agro entrepreneurs within the next two years through its Women and Youth Empowerment Programme (WYEP) scheme.

CSOs Give FG 14-day Ultimatum to Release Illegal Detainees

Some Civil Society Organizations have given a 14-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to release Omoyele Sowore and other illegally detained persons or risk having a nationwide mass action.

The CSOs at a press conference on the state of the nation in Abuja also stated five demands that they needed the government to unfailingly comply with within 14 days.

FG Has Capacity To Stop Pollution In Rivers –Cleric

General Overseer of Abundant Life Evangel Mission International (ALEM), Eugene Ogu, has declared the Federal Government has the capacity to stop the pollution of the atmosphere in Rivers State, but has deliberately refused to do so.
