Brexit Boost For UK’s Johnson As He Plans For Victory

Prime Minister Boris Johnson won a boost from Brexit supporters on Thursday as he marked one week until election day by setting out a plan for his first 100 days in office.

The Conservative leader appears increasingly confident of victory on December 12 as he remains around 10 points ahead of Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour party in opinion polls.

The electoral threat posed by Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party, meanwhile, receded further with the decision of four of its European Parliament MPs to endorse the prime minister.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Thursday, expressed shock over the death of his erstwhile Presidential Adviser on Women Affairs, Titilayo Ajanaku, noting that her loyalty and commitment to women affairs development was exemplary and worthy of emulation.
Obasanjo also recalled how the late erudite nursing professional joined other Nigerians to visit him in 1998 to persuade him to contest for the seat of the president.

First Nigeria Female LG Chairman Ajanaku Dies At 73

The former Presidential Adviser on Women Affairs to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Dame Titilayo Ajanaku, is dead.

Ajanaku, who passed on at the age of 73 on Thursday morning, was reported have breathed her last having battled with cancer.

The deceased was until her death the Otun Iyalode of Egbaland.

The late politician, trained nurse, administrator and women leader was born on January 25, 1946 at Àgọ́-Òdo Quarters Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Explosion Rocks Ebonyi School

An object suspected to be an improvised explosive device has exploded at Glory Land High School,Azugwu, in Ebonyi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

 

The device which exploded during break hour, Thursday, according to sources within the school, shattered the left arm of an SS 2 student simply identified as Chibuike while undisclosed number of students sustained various degree of injuries.

 

The incident which happened at about 11 am caused serious confusion and panic within the school and its vicinity.

 The Nigeria Security and Civil Corps has arrested 10 suspected illegal liquified petroleum gas operators in Akwa Ibom.
 State Commandant of corps, Mr Adeyinka Ayinla who disclosed this to newsmen at the end of routine surveillance in Uyo on Thursday, said that the corps was in collaboration with DPR to fish out illegal LPG refilling points in the state.

Onitsha Catholic Priest Slumps, Die In A Football Pitch

The catholic community in Onitsha Archdiocese was thrown into mourning yesterday following the reported death of her  Director of Social Communications, Rev. Fr Pius Uchenna Ukor.

Ukor, a happy and easy going priest also in charge of the  Onitsha Archdiocesan owned newspaper, Trinitas,  reportedly  slumped and died in a football pitch in Asaba Delta State Wednesday evening while coaching a football match between the catholic priests of Onitsha Archdiocese and Issele Uku diocese.

Former Minister of Science and Technology, Prof. Turner Isoun, has warned that violence during the election period may persist if the nation refuses to deploy electronic voting (e-voting).
