Celtic, Rangers Level Once More After Big Wins

Celtic and Rangers continued their shootout at the top of the Scottish Premiership thrashing Ross County and Hearts respectively on Sunday.

Just one goal separates the Glasgow giants as Celtic won 4-1 in the Highlands for a 10th straight victory, then Rangers responded with a 5-0 hammering of managerless Hearts at Ibrox.

Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie took his tally for the season to 15 with a first half brace either side of Ross Stewart’s leveller for County.

Tom Rogic then made it 3-1 as his deflected effort found the bottom corner 23 minutes from time.

Shiffrin Wins Killington Slalom In Emphatic Style

US superstar Mikaela Shiffrin won the women’s alpine World Cup slalom at Killington Sunday in dominant style, beating Slovkian Petra Vlhova by 2.29 seconds.

Shiffrin, the three-time overall World Cup champion, took a stranglehold on the race in the opening leg, flying down an icy course in front of delighted home fans in Vermont in 51.98sec — 1.13sec faster than Vlhova.

Shiffrin’s second run of 58.47sec was more than enough for victory with a total time of 1:50.45 as Vlhova clocked 59.63 to take second in 1:52.74.

19 Killed As Bus Plunges Onto Frozen River In Siberia

A passenger bus plunged off a bridge onto a frozen river in Siberia on Sunday, killing 19 of the more than 40 people on board, authorities said.

A tyre on the bus burst as it was crossing the bridge over the Kuenga river in eastern Siberia’s Zabaikalsky region.

The vehicle, which was travelling from Sretensk to Chita and carried 40 passengers, skidded off the road and onto the ice.

“Nineteen people died and 21 received various injuries,” the office of the governor of the Zabaikalsky region said in a statement.

55 Party Chairmen Reject PDP Call For Mahmood Resignation

There was a major crack among the country’s opposition political parties on Sunday after 55 national chairmen of political parties rejected the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) call for the resignation of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.
