Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha has ordered the immediate suspension of daily tolls, tickets and taxes from all commercial drivers in the state until further notice.
This followed complaints of incessant harassment and extortion of commercial vehicle operators by alleged agents of the Imo State government.

Hundreds of protesters yesterday barricaded the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja to demand for free, fair and credible governorship elections in Kogi and Bayelsa states. Male Marines will no longer be forced to get soaked when there’s an umbrella handy.

For the first time in the more than 200-year history of the Corps, male Marines will be allowed to wield umbrellas while in uniform, according to CNN. Previously, only female Marines were permitted to carry out basic wetness-protection tactics.

Now, thanks to an update in uniform regulations, men in the Corps can join women in carrying a small “all black, plain, standard or collapsible umbrella … during inclement weather with the service and dress uniforms.” Umbrellas are still not permitted with camouflage uniforms.

SA: Teacher Left Bleeding After ‘Assault’ By Grade 4 Pupil

A grade 4 pupil from Sakhile Primary School in Heidelberg, Gauteng, has been suspended after allegedly assaulting a teacher on Tuesday.

Gauteng basic education spokesperson Steve Mabona confirmed the incident.

“It is alleged that a grade 4 learner threw a pencil case towards an educator while she was busy at her table. Unfortunately, it hit her in the face,” said Mabona

The teacher was taken to a local hospital and discharged the same day.

“We can confirm that she is recuperating at home. Our employee wellness officials are in constant liaison with the educator for necessary support,” Mabona said.

South African swimming Olympian Terence Parkin said he was attacked in an apparent road rage incident on the N3 this week but the motorist involved in the altercation said there were two sides to the story.

On Tuesday, the deaf silver and gold medallist was driving through Free State, on his way from Durban to Johannesburg, when a motorist in a BMW allegedly tried to force him off the road.

The incident, which was captured in multiple videos from Parkin’s dashcam, occurred near the Engen Vaal petrol station as Parkin changed lanes to avoid road works.

Five police officers were hospitalized after a suspected drug dealer kicked over a table covered in heroin during a raid at a Bronx home, sending powder into the air, cops said Friday.

Police were executing a search warrant at the Willis Ave. address near E. 140th St. in Mott Haven about 7:30 p.m. Thursday when one of the drug dealers flipped the table, authorities said.
