‘Ndidi Is Leicester’s Didier Deschamps’

Wilfred Ndidi is the key cog in a thriving Leicester team, as his side are reaping their rewards from his tireless work.
One of Eric Cantona’s most memorable quotes came when he described his fellow Frenchman, Didier Deschamps as ‘the water carrier’.While the former Manchester United man meant that in a derisive way, every team needs one of those – a player willing to do the dirty work in midfield and put out fires.Deschamps was one of the very best at it – a defensive midfielder, who excelled at winning the ball. He had perfect positional awareness and

Data: Saving Consumers From Operators And Regulators

The five-day ultimatum issued to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to tackle illegal deductions by telecom operators and reduce the price of data is a welcome development, though belated. The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, rightly moved to rein in the telecom operators, having received a pinch of a biting reality. There is no doubt that the operators of our general system of mobile (GSM) telecommunication have pushed their luck too far and their greed too hard not to draw the anger of a responsible regulator.
Since the dawn of the 21st Century and attendant innovations in

Between FIRS And The Mystery Property Moguls

Pressure on the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) to meet up the ever rising revenue target in order that the Federal Government might be able to find its budget has pushed the management into coming up with a number of innovative measure. To this end, it can be said without fear of contradiction that the tax body has in the past four years recorded laudable achievements.

NEITI: Why Oil Theft In Nigeria May Not End Soon

The Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) has given possible reasons why widespread theft of Nigeria’s crude oil and refined petroleum products may not end soon.

It hinted that already, the numbers for stolen oil in the first quarter of 2019, surpassed the total volume stolen …

Osinbajo And A ‘Fork In The Road’ Option

EVERY passing day, the dissonance in the presidency, the most prized political office in the land is becoming obvious. The cracks in the wall appear clear as well. Ignore the denials that there is ‘no cold war’  in Aso Rock’, Nigeria’s seat of power. What we hear may not be all there is in the unraveling story as it regards the current travails of  vice president Yemi Osinbajo.  Last week, the clouds were beginning to clear. No more stonewalling on the matter that has engaged public attention for months.  For the first time, the presidency officially confirmed the sack

Abia Blames Contractor For Delay On Umuahia Road

Abia State Commissioner for Information, Okiyi Kalu, has exonerated Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of any blame in the delayed completion of Aba Road, one of the urban roads in Umuahia.

Kalu said rather than the governor, the contractor handling the project should be blamed for the slow pace of work.

According to Kalu, the contractor had been fully paid by the state governmen to mobilise to site and complete the project.

Kalu told Daily Sun, yesterday, that the slow pace of work on the dual-carriage three-kilometre road might not be unconnected with the heavy rains.

Between NLNG And Nigeria’s Global Warming Challenges

About 31 years ago, exactly on June 23, 1988, the conversation about climate change became a national issue in the United States when the country’s Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee entertained a landmark testimony on the issue from Dr. James Hansen, then director of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Institute for Space Studies.

In his testimony, Hansen stated that, “global warming has reached a level such that we can ascribe with a high degree of confidence a cause-and-effect relationship between the greenhouse effect and observed warming.”

He added, “in my opinion, the greenhouse effect has been detected, …
