Masked Security Men Attack Makinde In Lokoja Hotel

Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde and Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Saturday’s election in Kogi state, Musa Wada on Friday escaped being whisked away by masked gunmen, who attacked the Suitorial Hotel where they were lodged.

The gunmen, dressed in police uniforms and bullet proof masks, were said to have arrived the hotel at about 12.50 pm with some of them scaling the fence to gain access.

Makinde is the Chairman of the PDP Governorship campaign Council for Kogi state.

A Staten Island man brutally beaten for his iPhone on the Lower East Side last month has died from his injuries — and now cops are hunting for the mugger who killed him, police said Friday.

Giovanni DeStafano, 27, was walking along E. 5th St. near Avenue B, outside the Lower East Side Houses, about 9:50 p.m. on Oct. 20 when someone jumped him from behind, cops said.

The man repeatedly struck DeStafano in the head before running off with the victim’s iPhone 7, authorities said.

DeStafano suffered massive head injuries during the assault and was rushed to Bellevue Hospital.

Manchester City has lost their appeal against the decision of UEFA to refer the English champions to its adjudicatory chamber over alleged Financial Fair Play violations, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) said on Friday.
City reacted angrily when they were referred to the adjudicatory chamber of UEFA’s club financial control body by its investigatory chamber in May.

The club said it would appeal to CAS, but the sports court dismissed their initial appeal, saying on Friday that City had not “exhausted the legal remedies available to it prior to the appeal”.
