8 Drown In Pakistani Boat Accident

A rescue official on Monday reported that at least eight people which includes men, women and a child were killed after a boat capsized in eastern Pakistan.

Local rescue official Zafar Iqbal said the boat carrying around 30 people and goods capsized on the Sutlej river near the city of Dipalpur.

Iqbal added that 10 people had been rescued and that the search for those missing was ongoing.

It was not yet clear what caused the accident, he said.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday met behind closed doors with Bayelsa Governor-elect, Mr David Lyon, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Taraba Governorship: A.Court Upholds Re-Election Of Ishaku

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Monday upheld the return of Darius Ishaku as Governor of Taraba.

The court also dismissed the appeal by the All Progressive Congress (APC) for being incompetent and lacking in merit.

The APC approached the appellate court to set aside the judgment of the Taraba Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which upheld the declaration of Ishaku as the winner of the March 9, governorship election.

No fewer than eight people lost their lives on Monday in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, when a truck laden with petrol rammed into some vehicles, crushing its victims after losing control.
