Do Ultrasound Scans Sparingly – Doctors Warn Pregnant Women

Undergoing ultrasound scans too often may lead to foetus deformity among pregnant mothers or cause a thermal effect on the patient’s body tissue, experts have warned.

Janet Akinmoladun, a consultant radiologist at the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan, spoke while training doctors and paramedics on carrying out emergency ultrasound procedures at the 661 Nigerian Airforce Hospital in Ikeja, Lagos state.

The training, which held at the Sam Ethnan Airforce Base, was organized by the GTAK Health Alliance for Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) alongside the military hospital and saw a team of experts teach and showcase medical technologies.

Oshiomhole Didn’t Pay Salaries, Pensions In 18 LGs – SSG

Secretary to Edo State Government, Osarodion Ogie, has said All Progressives Congress (APC), National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, left behind unpaid salaries of workers in 18 local government areas when he was governor. 

Ogie said this during a visit by a team of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College Study Tour Course 42 at Government House, in Benin.

Nigeria’s Inflation Rises To 11.61%

National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) yesterday, said that inflation rose by 11.61 per cent (year-on-year) in October 2019 from 11.24 per cent recorded in September, 2019 with major increases recorded in food. On a year-on-year basis, the composite food index rose by 14.09 per cent in October 2019 compared to 13.51 per cent in September 2019.

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has warned health workers in Cross River State not to demand money from parents during immunisation of children against measles.

The Katsina State Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has seized 1,365 bags of rice and 295 belts of second-hand clothing smuggled into the country with the duty paid value of ₦62 million within 10 days.
