Apapa-Oshodi Expressway Of Refuse

With the return of Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) after Visionscape failed to provide the needed clean up of Lagos streets and roads of refuse and dirt, the thinking that the city would experience cleanliness again might be a mirage.

This is because almost two years after the recall of LAWMA, heap of refuse still dot many parts of the city for days with nobody clearing them.

For instance, on the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, virtually every bus stop has a heap of waste, with signs that those tasked with duty of clearing the refuse had not been around to clear

Appeal Court Sacks Two PDP Lawmakers

The Court of Appeal sitting in Kaduna, on Tuesday sacked two Kaduna State House of Assembly members.

The appellate court ordered that a rerun be conducted by INEC to determine who will represent Kagarko and Sanga constituencies in the state assembly.

In Kagarko, the appellate court ordered for a rerun in 22 polling units located in two wards of the constituency.

Access Bank Appoints Awosika Chairman, Belo-Olusoga Retires

The Board of Directors of Access Bank Plc yesterday announced that its Chairman, Mosun Belo-Olusoga will retire in January 2020.

This followed the completion of her 12- year term limit allowed by the Central Bank of Nigeria’s code of corporate governance for banks and discount houses.

Owing to this, the bank, also announced the appointment of Dr. Ajoritsedere Awosika, as her successor, effective January 8, 2020.

According to a statement obtained on the Nigerian Stock Exchange website, Bello-Olusoga became the Chairman of the Board in July 2015.

Power Crisis: Senate Rejects Ban On Generator Importation

Senators shut down a motion seeking to temporary ban generator importation into the country. 

The motion which was an additional prayer moved by Francis Fadahunsi  (Osun East) was aimed at curtailing generator importation as a way of making the government sit up to address the nation’s power problems.

The House of Representatives has approved six months jail term and N10 million fine or both for any person who frustrates the smooth transition of power from one civilian government to the other.

The House yesterday passed a bill seeking to make a President-elect resume in the Presidential Villa to understudy the outgoing President ahead of inauguration.

2019 Budget: House Directs NDDC to Suspend All Payments

The House of Representatives has directed the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to suspend all payments with immediate effect, except for personnel cost for allegedly operating the 2019 fiscal year without a budget approved by the National Assembly.

The directive followed the adoption of a motion on the urgent need to investigate the failure and refusal of NDDC to submit its budget estimates for 2019 to the National Assembly for approval brought by Hon. Benjamin Kalu.
