President Donald Trump was loudly booed on Saturday for the second time in a week at a sporting event as he attended a UFC fight in New York.

Trump, wearing a dark suit and a red tie, pumped his fist and waved at the crowd as he walked into the city’s iconic Madison Square Garden arena on Saturday night.

There was no repeat of the loud chants of “lock him up” that greeted Trump when he attended a World Series baseball game last weekend, but loud jeers rung out.

Many mixed martial arts fans also clapped and cheered as Trump …

Germane Issues Up At Senate Committee Budget Defence

The recent screening and budget defence by ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) before the Senate standing committees threw up some issues.The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, set the ball rolling, when he said the least daily upkeep spent on a prisoner in America is N31, 000, which makes nonsense of the dignity of labour in Nigeria.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) is currently battling to get government to implement the N30, 000 minimum wage agreement.Even some states are finding it hard paying the N18, 000 minimum wage, which became applicable in 2011. It is exclusive of all deductions, except those

Super Eagles Match-Fixing Allegation: Westerhof Defeats Bonfrere

FIFA Ranking And The Super Eagles

Nigerians may have been surprised to find their darling team, the Super Eagles dropping instead of rising in the latest International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) ranking released on October 24, 2019. Since in 1994 when the Super Eagles rose to fifth in the world, its best ever ranking, they have not gotten anywhere near that rank. In the one released on September 19 (incidentally my birthday), the Super Eagles gained points to be placed 34th in the world. Nigerians believed that there will be an improvement for that of October because in the month under consideration, the Super Eagles

Nigeria: When Corruption Fights Back

There is this question that always lingers in my mind, and I try as much as possible to find answers, internally. The challenges facing our country are issues that we discuss in our everyday engagements with families, friends, colleagues and acquaintances. The challenges are many; we have the challenges of insecurity, religious extremism, poor infrastructure, cross-border crises and economy, etc. When President Muhammadu Buhari came to power in 2015, the issues he promised to tackle are the challenges of insecurity, corruption and to revamp the economy.

One troubling challenge is corruption. Corruption is virtually found in the citizens everyday life;

What Atiku Can Learn From President Jonathan

What Atiku Can Learn From President Jonathan

I do not know much about sports, but I know what good sportsmanship is. Diego Maradona, the Argentine football shaman, was a great player, but he is not celebrated as much as Pele of Brazil.  One fatal flaw detracts from Maradona’s genius – hubris.

Maradona is known to be a sore loser. He curses, barks and brawls in defeat. As a matter of fact, his ‘’legend’’ is stymied by his repulsive foibles and deportment.

Politics is like football. It is a game. One side wins and the other side loses. It should not have to be a hara-kiri – ‘’it …
