An Oyo State-based socio-political group, Oyo Kajola Group (OKG), Thursday came hard on the Senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, Senator Teslim Folarin, for claiming in an address to his party loyalists that the All Progressives Congress (APC) had set two traps for the government of Governor Seyi Makinde, which according to him it cannot escape.

2 Killed, 23 Others Injured In Lagos Gas Explosion

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed the death of two people in a gas explosion which occurred on Thursday.

It added that 23 others who were seriously injured were rescued from the explosion that occurred at Adule Street, Off Ojo Road, in Ajegunle area near Apapa, in Lagos State.

Albania Earthquake Death Toll Hits 40: Defence Ministry

The death toll from the most powerful earthquake to strike Albania in decades rose to 40 on Thursday, after 10 more bodies were pulled from the rubble overnight, the defence ministry said.

The 6.4 magnitude earthquake rattled the Balkan state before dawn on Tuesday, levelling buildings and trapping bodies underneath the wreckage in towns near the Adriatic coast.

“Ten more victims were found during the night, bringing the number of dead to 40,” the ministry said in a statement.

Senate Seeks Action As Nigeria Loses ₦250bn To Cybercrime

Disturbed by the ₦250 billion loss to cybercrime in 2017, the Senate yesterday urged the Federal Government to improve budgetary provisions for digital technology and cyber-dependence safety.

The upper legislative chamber therefore mandated its Committee on ICT and Cybercrime to engage stakeholders on the menace and chart path for the future of the country.

It also directed the Committee on ICT and Cybercrime to strategically relate with the ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) to ascertain their ICT shortfalls, cyber security constraints, data management challenges and possible remediation measures.

A 32 year old football coach Leodina Ahamadah, was yesterday remanded in prison custody, by the Lagos State Magistrate Court, Igbosere, for allegedly raping a 9 – year – old boy.

Magistrate Mrs K.O Doja- Ojo, remanded the defendant in prison, pending the legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

Ahamadah who resides at Idi-Aba area of Lekki Beach road, was docked on a one- count charge of forceful rape, preferred against him by the police. The Prosecutor, Inspector Peace Chukwudi, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence on November 18.

Ikpeazu Dissolves Abia Traditional Rulers Council

Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, the Abia State Governor, has approved the dissolution of the leadership of the Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers with immediate effect.

This was contained in a terse statement issued by the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Sir Gabriel Onyendilefu and made available to IgbereTV on Thursday morning.

Between January and June this year, no fewer than four medical doctors, working in Abuja, committed suicide.

Dr Roland Aigbovo, President Association of Resident Doctors, FCT, disclosed this during a campaign against drug abuse, at Wuse Market. He did not give the names of the doctors.
