Sanwo-Olu Mulls Amnesty For Cultists, Criminals

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has hinted that his administration plans to give amnesty to cultists and other criminal elements in the state.

The Governor made the disclosure shortly after the state security meeting which held at the Government House, Alausa, Ikeja.

While decrying the gridlock as a result of ongoing road construction and rehabilitation across the state, the Governor directed that Vehicle Inspection Officers in the state to restrict their inspection operations to between mid day and 3 PM daily.

Christmas: FCT Police Ban Use Of Fireworks

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced a ban of the use of fireworks during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The Command in a press statement said the ban was part of security measures to ensure the safety of city residents during the festive season.

The authorities, warning residents to refrain from using the explosive items, said that violators will be arrested and prosecuted.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, University of Benin chapter, yesterday, said it would resist any attempt by the office of the Accountant General of the Federation to force its members to register with the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

The Federal Government on Monday said seizures made by security agents at the country’s land borders indicated that the republics of Benin and Niger were not addressing issues that led to the border closure.

Another Catholic priest, Reverend Father Malachy Asadu has been reportedly kidnapped in Nsukka, Enugu State on Monday.

Fr. Asadu, priest of Nsukka Catholic Diocese was kidnapped along Imilike-Nsukka Road while he was said to be returning from a diocesan meeting held at Thereasa Cathedral, Nsukka.

The State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of the clergyman.

Maid Locked Up, Fed With Cockroaches And Faeces

An 11-Year Old girl has been hospitalized after she was beaten, locked up and fed with cockroaches and faeces by her madam in Akwa Anambra State.
