Buratai Calls For Synergy Between Security Agencies

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai has called for synergy between the Armed Forces,  other security agencies and the media as a way of achieving success in operations being carried out by the force.

General Buratai spoke at a workshops organised for Commanding Officers, Defence Correspondents, Officers of the Directorate of Army Public Relations (DAPR) and Online Publishers, saying the present fight against insurgents in the North East , including the war against militancy requires high degree of coordinated efforts among security agencies.

Customs Seizes 1,365 Bags Of Rice, Nabs Nine Suspects

The Katsina State Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has seized 1,365 bags of rice and 295 belts of second-hand clothing smuggled into the country with the duty paid value of ₦62 million within 10 days.

The Acting Comptroller in charge of the command, Mr. Kirawa Abdullahi, who stated this while addressing journalists in Katsina on Monday, added that nine suspects have been arrested in connection with the seizures.

8 Drown In Pakistani Boat Accident

A rescue official on Monday reported that at least eight people which includes men, women and a child were killed after a boat capsized in eastern Pakistan.

Local rescue official Zafar Iqbal said the boat carrying around 30 people and goods capsized on the Sutlej river near the city of Dipalpur.

Iqbal added that 10 people had been rescued and that the search for those missing was ongoing.

It was not yet clear what caused the accident, he said.

Taraba Governorship: A.Court Upholds Re-Election Of Ishaku

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Monday upheld the return of Darius Ishaku as Governor of Taraba.

The court also dismissed the appeal by the All Progressive Congress (APC) for being incompetent and lacking in merit.

The APC approached the appellate court to set aside the judgment of the Taraba Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which upheld the declaration of Ishaku as the winner of the March 9, governorship election.

Chairman igala Lagos party (APC) Chief Felix Olame has congratulated Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi on his victory in the just-concluded governorship election in the state.

The governor was declared winner of the poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday.
