Falana: DSS Has Given 3 Contradictory Reasons For Sowore

Femi Falana, human rights lawyer, says in the last one week, the Department of State Services (DSS) has given three reasons not to release Omoyele Sowore, convener of RevolutionNow Movement.

Sowore was arrested in Lagos on August 3 and later flown to Abuja where he has been in detention despite two court orders on his release.

The DSS has come under intense pressure over the detention of Sowore and other notable Nigerians.

Man Drags Wife To Police For Beating 2 Children To Death

Mr Christian Ezike from Awo Idemili in Orsu local government area of Imo State has reported his wife, Ukamaka to the police for beating to death their two children, Chiwendu and Chinecherem,  2 years and 2 months old respectively.

According to the State Police Public Relation Officer, Orlando Ikeokwu who disclosed this to newsmen in Owerri explained that Ezike who had gone out for his normal business on Friday came back to see three of his children critically ill and bruised at the hospital.

Suspected Fulani herdsmen have resumed hostility on Issele-Uku/Ubulu-Uku Road, in Aniocha North and South Local Government Areas of Delta State, reports say.

It was gathered that on Saturday evening a driver of a vehicle was shot dead on the road, with four other occupant believed to have been abducted by the suspected herdsmen. Kogi: Collation Officer Presents ₦50,000 Bribe

A collation officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kogi state on Sunday presented a N50,000 bribe politicians offered to a presiding officer in Igalamela-Odolu local government area of the state during Saturday’s election.

There was widespread financial inducement by politicians during the election.

The collation officer presented the money at the INEC headquarters in the state while submitting the result of the local government he coordinated.

Catholic Priest Dies In Anambra Fire Outbreak

A 60-year-old Catholic priest, Rev. Edmond Nwagbal was burnt beyond recognition when fire yesterday completely razed down St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, a parish located at Nnewi Ichi, Nnewi North Local Government Area Anambra State.

Eyewitness said the fire outbreak occurred at about 4:00 a.m.

The State Police Command confirmed the disaster in a statement noting that a resident priest, who was living in the parish house, lost his life.

The statement, which was signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Haruna Mohammed, said the cause of the fire outbreak was yet to be ascertained.

Kogi West: Dino Melaye Losing To Smart Adeyemi

In the result so far announced for the Kogi West Senatorial district rerun election, Senator Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party is trailing Senator Smart Adeyemi of the All Progressives Congress.

Out of five of the seven local governments of the zone announced so far, Adeyemi beat Melaye in three, while Melaye won in two. Adeyemi now has 48,676 votes, while Melaye has 39,189 votes.

Fuel Scarcity Hits Katsina Borders, A Litre Goes For ₦250

With the decision of the federal government to suspend fuel supply to filling station located within 20 kilometres to the nation’s land border, fuel scarcity has hit border towns in Katsina State, THISDAY checks have revealed.

Investigation also revealed that the scarcity had led to an increase in the price of premium motor spirit (PMS) from ₦145 to ₦250 in towns coterminous with the Niger Republic, accounting for an increase of about 40 percent.
