Kogi Decides: Electorate Ready to Vote

As the electorate in Kogi State file out to elect their governor who will pilot the affairs of the state for the next four years, the atmosphere in Lokoja, the state capital, still remains calm.

There is presence of security personnel at strategic places to ensure peaceful conduct of the governorship election.

The Department of State Security (DSS) said yesterday that the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd), leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and Convener of the #RevolutionNow Movement, Omoyele Sowore, opted to be remanded in DSS custody.

It said contrary to the belief in many quarters that they were held by DSS against their will,  the trio chose the custody of the agency instead of Kuje Prison.

The Supreme Court yesterday disclosed that the appeal filed by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the last presidential election, Atiku Abubakar and his party, against the election of President Muhammadu Buhari, was dismissed owing to the failure of the appellants to prove any of the allegations made in their appeal.

Peace appears to be in the horizon for the Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the South-south zonal chapter of the party has declared that the purported suspension of some members of the party were not binding on them.

PDP Berates APC For Attack On Makinde, Musa Wada

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday berated the All Progressives Congress (APC) for sending armed thugs to invade the venue of the meeting of its leaders, including Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and the PDP candidate, Engr. Musa Wada, in Lokoja.

The party said in a statement by Kola Ologbondiyan, the National Publicity Secretary that several hooded APC thugs, armed with automatic rifles and other dangerous weapons, invaded the venue of the meeting which had Governor Makinde, Wada, his running mate, Hon.
