Kogi Poll: UPC Candidate Denies Stepping Down For Bello

Dr Sunday Abuh, candidate of the United Peoples’ Congress (UPC), in the Nov 16 Kogi governorship election, has distanced himself from claims that he had stepped down from the race and endorsed All Progressives Congress’s Yahaya Bello.

Mr Moses Damisa, UPC Chairman in Kogi, had told newsmen on Friday that Abuh had stepped down for Gov Bello, adding that the party’s structure had been collapsed into Bello’s structures.

Damisa urged UPC supporters to vote for Bello, hinging his stance on allegations that Abuh was “not carrying the party along in his campaigns ahead of the election”.

Fayemi Presents ₦124.7b Budget Estimate To Ekiti Assembly

Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has presented the 2020 Appropriation Bill of ₦124, 724,869,355.95 to the House of Assembly. The bill, which is christened ‘Budget of Deliverables’, has ₦53,538,093,806.59 (43 per cent) as capital expenditure, while the recurrent expenditure is ₦71,186,775,549.36 (57 per cent). Fayemi said the budget was tailored after his administration’s five-pillar agenda for development, which is aimed at enhancing good governance and speedy economic transformation of the State.

Osinbajo Inaugurates Wagon Assembly Plant In Ogun

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo on Saturday inaugurated the Wagon Assembly Plant at Kajola in Ifo council area of Ogun as part of efforts to boost the ongoing railway modernisation programme of the federal government.
Osinbajo in his address said the development followed an agreement signed in March 2018 by the federal government with the Chinese rail contractor, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), for the establishment of the wagon assembly plant.

According to the VP, the plant will subsequently produce rolling stock, wagon, spare parts and maintenance equipment needed for the various railway projects of the federal government across the country.

Bayelsa Election: INEC Boss, NYSC DG Caution Corps Members

The Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu and the Director-General of National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim have warned Corps members that would serve as ad hoc personnel in the forthcoming Gubernatorial Election in Bayelsa State to abide by the electoral laws.
Mahmood urged them to avoid actions that may undermine the integrity of the election.He stated this yesterday in Yenagoa while addressing Corps Members during a sensitization forum.

The INEC boss also disclosed that adequate security has been provided for all Corps Members and Corps Lodges in the State during and after the election.

DSS: No Surety Has Turned Up For Sowore

The Department of State Services (DSS) has said no person has turned up to take delivery of the Convener of #RevolutionNow, Mr. Omoyele Sowore, since a court order was received for his release.

The Public Relations’ Officer of the Service, Dr Peter Afunanya, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Abuja.

MKO Abiola’s Doctor, Ore Falomo, Is Dead

Personal physician to Late Chief MKO Abiola, Dr. Ore Falomo, is dead.

Falomo, a former Medical Director of Maryland Specialist Hospital, was said to have died in the early hours of Saturday after a brief illness.

Though no official statement has been issued on his death, some leaders of pan Yoruba group, Afenifere, have reacted to his death.

Chief Ayo Adebanjo described him as a progressive, nationalist, patriot and successful medical practitioner.

Adebanjo said Falomo fought for democratic ideals and was loyal to the struggle.

Appeal Court Affirms Sanwo-Olu’s Election

The Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos on Saturday, upheld the election of Gov. Babajide Sanwo-olu of Lagos State.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the five-man panel in two separate judgments, upheld Sanwo-Olu’s victory in the March 9 poll and dismissed the appeal by governorship candidates of Labour Party (LP) and Alliance for Democracy (AD).
